Started a project mid October 2023 and currently been in the dark hole of the permit process. What does it take to get out of the review process these days. over 3 + months and counting does not seem right.

Spoke with a employee today, I believe his name was Kyle, and he was very polite and professional. This was concerning a building permit. The employee was patient and answered all my questions. Thanks!

I just watched a video of security and the police violating a man's Civil Rights. First, everyone working in that building needs to learn what and how HIPAA works. Including local law enforcement. Security Braden and Wagger need to be retrained in doing their job. I have never seen so many, know so little about what their job is.

Is there a special training employees go through to learn how to be especially rude to customers? If so, the woman who answered the phone today was head of the class. I so appreciate your tone and you hanging up on me as I was saying thank you. You are the type of employee who gives Fairfax County government permits and zoning the reputation they have. You were unprofessional and rude. Don't take your anger and frustration out on those you are paid to help.

Inspector each individual has his own opinion about Inspector, I been in construction business for 30 years , I never see a Inspector show up looking like a homeless person, no offend to homeless people, but this gus for a love of God you represent the county act like one ,and process for inspection was horrible, his just make up things, he doesn't want be working ,I have to pay the price ,for waiting my time

I am not sure what is going on with this county... but they are absolutely HORRIBLE now. Every single time you speak with someone they tell you different information, all of which is clearly incorrect. As well as simple permits and simple changes taking ATLEAST 3 months to complete and or even getting someone who knows what they are talking about to contact you back. Most of the time when you call you are getting someone who is working from home. That has their children crying and hollering in the background and they are LEGIT tending to their kids instead of assisting you with their problems. This is absolutely appalling. Our country is going to hell in a handbasket and everyone is sitting by watching, allowing it to f'n happen. DISGUSTING!

Customer service does not care and they just try to get you off the phone.

Personally and compared to other governments agencies, I feel very comfortable coming to Fair Fax County as they always take the time to explain and eventually find a solution. It’s a pleasure working with them compared to with them and hope your new computer system will do what’s it intended to do .

The new permit system, PLUS, is an absolute DISASTER. Major issues that were brought to their attention on day one of the new system’s launch are still not fixed two months later. Personnel doesn’t even know their own system, requirements or processes. It doesn’t seem like they thought anything through or did any testing prior to launch. Permits issued prior to the PLUS system have gone into oblivion. Email after email are simply ignored. If you're lucky, you might get an automated email a week later that doesn't address any of your issues. Permits applied for in September are still unprocessed at the end of December.

I have to share my total frustration with Fairfax County Building Plus System. Whose idea was it to implement this horrid system? After numerous telephone calls, numerous voicemails, numerous emails, referring telephone numbers given to me by staff that lead nowhere, I decided to visit the County Office Building to discuss my experience with someone there. To my dismay, I received the same lack of knowledge about the Plus System. No one knows anything about this system. One employee acknowledged that this system is new and they are all trying to understand this system (where is the training of employees prior to installing this system?). When I went to another floor to try and get more information, there was only one employee there. I asked where is everyone and she informed me they are still under Covid 19 protocol and most everyone is "working" from home. I have been a contractor for 37 years. I feel like it's time to retire from the industry because of unbelievable frustration at not being able to get help to navigate through the Plus system. The only next step I feel like I can do is report my experience to the Governor, perhaps he could investigate this travesty. If anyone reads this, please write a review of your experiences either in person, telephone or email.Thank you

I would honestly only believe the one star reviews here. My permit requests have been in process for a month now.At first, the automatic response I received from the permit office was "We're switching to Plus, you'll have to wait until October 31st." This was in response to "I would like to get a better understanding of the information required for my permit."After waiting for the new Plus system to come on, I searched for my permits, only to find that a majority of the attachments were missing. I tried to put in a help request through their system, as they specify, only to have my request cancelled and the response be "Your information is already slated for transfer within the next 24 hours."After waiting a few days, I come back to find that not only was the info not transferred, they voided one of my permits because "We voided any permits that had "contractor yet to be chosen."No explanation as to why, just "We did it and you have to re-submit."Called today and waited 45 minutes for the first person to answer, only to have her hang up on me within a second of her initial "Hello". This isn't the first time this has happened, and seems to be standard operating procedure. It's happened to me in the past, and I would get the waiting message "There are X amount of callers ahead of you." chiming in from two callers to one caller within seconds of each other. The second call lasted 52 minutes. When I did get the person on the line to look at my permit applications, I started to explain to her that it looked as if a majority of my files were missing; that they were there, but appeared to be blank when I clicked on the preview window. I asked that she look into the files, and asked how much longer past a month I'd have to wait to get the process moving. She cut into my sentence with "We have what we need and we will get back you." I asked that she look at the files and let me know if she saw the print of my layout, at which point she hung up on me.It is a sad state of affairs when this is considered acceptable behavior. I am a public servant myself and would never dream of behaving in this way. I understand that the switchover from one system to another is a difficult process at times, but to just summarily hang up on people when asked for some concrete answers is just plain wrong.

The new PLUS system added by the Fairfax county has turned out to be a nightmare. I have called several times to get help on my project and since the implementation of this system my phone calls and messages have not been returned. This has put a further delay on my project. I wish the county had a system of monitoring how many customers are not receiving return calls that are promised by their phone system and voicemails that are not responded to at all.
