My steak was undercooked, and had an unedable vain that at $62. Surprised me.
First time here and it was excellent. While the food was good it did need to be cooked a little longer. Our server Christian was excellent and made sure our food was corrected and that we were completely satisfied. He is the reason our night was so great and we will definitely be back to see him and Gilbert’s again. I especially liked the Caesar salad, crab cakes and the tomahawk steak. Five stars!

Our dining experience was fantastic! It deserves all 5 stars and more if I was given the opportunity. Our server, Tsedenia, was beyond helpful, friendly and very attentive to our special occasion birthday dinner date and made our dining experience one to remember. I always love dining at J. GIlberts for their fine dining and delicious entrees. This time I also want to single out our server, Tsedenia, for her special attention and great service. My wife’s sister has been telling me how great your crab cakes are. So a group of us went there to eat dinner today at 4:00. I got the mixed seafood platter. The crab cakes were terrible mostly filler not much crab meat. The shrimp were over cooked I got one scallop it was the size of a quarter. I don’t know about your steaks but I would not recommend the seafood. My sister in law even said crab cakes were terrible. I looked it up this restaurant changed ownership about 6 years ago.

Came in for brunch with my family today SUE was amazing she was attentive kind have a big smile that changed our moods around very funny btw my husband and I also got mimosas they were very good. We’ll definitely be back and asking for Sue again

This was my first visit. The ambiance was so calming and relaxing. I was so impressed with our waiter, John- Michael. He was very friendly and eager to please. His knowledge of the menu and drinks was impeccable. I will go back. Thank you, John-Michael!

i had a fantastic experience at j. gilbert's & a big part of that was our server/bartender, morgan
we arrived just in time for happy hour & morgan immediately let us know we had a couple of minutes left to order happy hour cocktails & appetizers . . . thanks to that heads-up, we ordered the calamari & cocktails—& both were excellent
for dinner, i had the filet mignon (medium rare) with asparagus & potatoes . . . everything was cooked perfectly . . . we finished with the chocolate peanut butter pie & the apple blondie dessert . . . both were the perfect ending to a great meal
what really stood out was morgan's service . . . she was warm, engaging & attentive without ever hovering . . . my friend & i hadn't seen each other in five years—so we had a lot of catching up to do—& morgan struck the perfect balance between checking in on us & giving us space to enjoy our evening . . . even after the restaurant had closed, no one made us feel rushed to leave, which we really appreciated
the food, drinks, atmosphere & service were all outstanding . . . so much so that the next time i'm in the mclean area, j. gilbert's will absolutely be on my dinner itinerary—and hopefully morgan will be there again!

We always enjoy the food, steaks and scallops and the creme brûlée. We had our daughter with Down’s syndrome with us. Kim was very attentive to all of us making sure we had what we needed but did go above and beyond with serving and assisting the one with special needs. Her kindness and actions did not go unnoticed. Thank you very much.

Our favorite steakhouse in the area! The food and service is unmatched at J. Gilbert’s. I grew up coming here for special occasions and I love that my husband and I continued the tradition with our own two children when we moved back to the area. My babies are native Texans and know terrific steak and this is their favorite place, too.
