J. Gilbert's Wood-Fired Steaks & Seafood McLean

We have been going to J. Gilbert's in McLean for almost 20 years now. Simply put, it's just not as good as it used to be. The steaks are still good but the service was lackluster at best. The menu doesn't have the same offerings as before - some of which were star items that we would always order. I'm sad to say but not sure if we'll be coming back after so many years.

We've been dining here for 25 years. We always get superior service and expertly prepared food. Last night Joan continued that tradition of service and the chef and kitchen staff did the same with the food. We highly recommend J. Gilbert's!!!

Wonderful neighborhood restaurant where people from other neighborhoods come to dine. Great steaks, great salad entrees, great vibe.

Always an excellent experience. The service was outstanding but not overbearing. Entrees appeared quickly and were very tasty.

Very salty lobster fish and chips , service was excellent but food was disappointing, I'm sure their excellent managing team will make it better.

Always pleasant. They made an appropriate fuss about a birthday in the party. Not inexpensive, but large portions (a lot came home with us). Nice evening out.

Brunch review only (lunch/dinner are excellent). The brunch buffet was awful with the exception of the prime rib and the raw bar (raw bar not my thing but other may love it.) All the other meant-to-be-hot food on the buffet was room temperature, overcooked/dry, and/or congealing. Completely unacceptable for $50 per person and so disappointing given how much I like this place for dinner.

Gilbert's recently changed their menu a bit. We tried the new prime rib egg roll appetizer, very tasty. We had Wagyu burgers and creamed corn with bacon. All was excellent and service was attentive. Recommend Gilbert's

Joan, our server, was fabulous! We are a group of friends who dine at J. Gilberts regularly and have had Joan as our server previously. She is superb! Attentive while also accommodating our pace of dining.

Our server Alban was great. He answered questions related to the menu and helped decide what was best to please. His demeanor was pleasant and the food was excellent. We were very pleased with the service, quality of the meal, and look forward to returning to J. Gilberts in the near future.

The lunch seafood platter offering is my favorite. Also have good service and nice ambience.

The food and service was nice. I love the prime rib. it perfectly cook like the way I want.

Unfortunately we had a 7:15 pm reservation but the kitchen closed at 8:30 pm! Was not enough time to get our entire order the way we wanted! Our server did the best he could and the manager was very apologetic, but neither one of them could get my crab cakes or mashed potatoes or the crab soup I ordered to go! That was very disappointing! But the rest of the meal was delicious!

Easter brunch was outstanding! There were too many options, I tried to get some of everything, no chance! I'll be back for sure.

Great service, good food and a great greeting. Me and my wife had an exceptional experience. We definitely will be going back.
