Charred in Mechanicsville was the right pick for our Saturday lunch stop. The menu offered plenty of choices without being overwhelming. The garden salad and wild mushroom pizza were perfect for this duo.
The atmosphere was welcoming, the service was excellent, and the ingredients tasted fresh and thoughtfully prepared.

The food needs some adjustments!
Large lump crab cakes. Not large and definitely not lump! The corn purée was odd and was served in tiny ramekins. The asparagus were bitter and stringy.
The beet salad and salmon was good. I enjoyed the dressing, didn’t love the cheese with it but I got it on the side.

I had a great experience here from start to finish. The food was fresh, flavorful, and well prepared, and you could tell that care went into both the quality of the ingredients and the presentation. Everything we ordered came out at a good temperature and tasted delicious. The portions were generous and definitely felt worth the price.
