Boxwood Estate Winery far exceeded expectations during our recent visit on August 30th. The Pavilion Tasting Experience was immersive, highlighting Virginia's capability for producing excellent reds, which truly surprised us. We did the “cave tasting” and were served by Mark. He was fantastic! He knew a lot about the wines, the history of the winery/estate, and the area. He was very nice and understanding when there was some confusion about our payment. Boxwood was super accommodating with our request for a vegetarian charcuterie board. The cave tasting was a very intimate experience and mark kindly lowered the volume of the music for us. He explained each wine well and gave us some space to chat...
We were visiting the area and decided to book a reservation for the Pavilion Wine Tasting held on Saturdays. It was a great experience. The pavilion tasting takes place in the midst of the vineyard. It's incredibly beautiful. Our wine guide/hostess, Carolyn, was awesome! Carolyn was professional, personable, very knowledgeable, and offered her opinions for which we were appreciative.
