Service suffered slightly because they had large party in one of their rooms. It was nice and quiet despite being a busy sat night.Dietary restrictions: Gluten free options available

My family and I absolutely love Al Fresco! Definitely a hidden gem in Newport News. My wife and 3 year old daughter come here all the time and always leave happy. We are greeted and treated like family as soon as we walk through the door. Ronaldo (the owner) is almost always present and makes the rounds speaking with the patrons. The bread is fantastic and endless. I always get the Ravioli alla Vodka, which is perfectly made each time. My daughter (who is picky) gets buttered pasta and broccoli, which she happily inhales. If you are on the Peninsula and looking for a high class, friendly, and filling Italian restaurant, this is the place to come to!

Food is good. Service was a little overwhelmed. The side room smelt horrible and mildew like. Carpet has no place in a restaurant dining room.

This is a wonderful restaurant in the shopping center off of Jefferson. We had fried calamari for an appetizer. The sauce was delicious. The calamari was very thin, but fried nicely and had good flavor. We seated at a quiet and cozy for top at the back of the restaurant, the ambience is beautiful for special date nights or cozy, family, dinners, and even business meetings. For our entrées, we had chicken Alfredo, shrimp Alfredo, and salmon salad. The salmon salad was delicious. The light citrusy, bright, clear salad dressing on the house. Salad was delightful, and the vegetables in the salads were some of the freshest I've experienced in a while, the Alfredo, however, were a bit disappointing when fresh Parmesan cheese was offered and shredded over them, it improved the taste, but didn't quite make it there for me or our other guest who had the Alfredo dish as well. It lacks a more garlic, Parmesan flavor the bread at the table Appeared to be homemade and was absolutely delicious. They have olive oil and balsamic drizzle for you to dip into which could definitely use more herbs and maybe a little Parmesan in it. The cappuccino at the end was very delicious and on point overall, this is a delightful restaurant that's just needs a few tweaks to make it perfect. The price for what you received was a tad high, but not by much and with inflation, understandable. Isaac was our server and provided top-notch service throughout the meal. I am a former fine dining server, so I know about timing and peccable Service. I love that we had enough time between each course to savor and digest. I recommend this restaurant and I'm looking forward to trying more of its dishes!

I love their food, but this was the second time it's taken about an hour from food being ordered to food being served. We were late to a ticketed event as a result, despite telling the waiter twice that we had a post-meal event to attend. Without the event it wouldn't have mattered, but just be forewarned. Food is excellent.

We had reservations at 6pm for four people. Everyone placed their order . We received our salads and bread . Shortly after we received our meal except for one person in our party. We were told the kitchen fixed the wrong entree and the waitress quickly put the correct order in. Unfortunately everyone at our table was 20 minutes into eating before the other person received her food. We were comped for the one meal but the evening was not enjoyable like we expected.

Found the seafood dish wanting flavor. Even asked for Fra divalfo sauce. Calamari was rubbery . Partner had the chicken Alfredo and compared it to Olive Garden . Waitress was attentive and restaurant was clean. Given the per plate cost of each , it was not over priced for what we recieved. As this was our first , I wanted it to be more authentic .

This is hands down, one of the best places in Tidewater VA for Italian cuisine. The entrees and appetizers that we ordered were first rate in every respect. Both in taste and in presentation. It was matched with attentive service, with a beautiful dining environment. We wouldn't hesitate for minute to come back. If you want a top notch dine for Italian, you couldn't do any better than Al Fresco.

Food, service, and overall experience was wonderful!! We were greeted at the door and immediately seated! Our waiter always remembers what we had last time we dined, and makes additional suggestions!! Can't wait to return!

Unexpected classy place. Felt like I should have been in a dress shirt and tie. Reservations seem to be wanted. Food was good and service was good.

Better than I expected. Reviews were great and my wife was in the mood for Italian as we sat in a hotel. This seemed a solid choice. There’s plenty of parking and we were made to feel welcomed right from the start. The atmosphere was very pleasant and a great place for a date night. There’s a wide range of choices and what we had was fantastic. From the complimentary bread (focaccia, delicious), to the melanzane rottine (rolled eggplant; appetizer), to our meals (pollo rustico and spaghetti with meatballs), everything was amazing. Service was excellent as the waitress continued to make sure everything was good.
