About First Watch

First Watch offers a mix of experiences. Some visitors report long waits for food, with one wait lasting about an hour and an order getting mixed up. The place can be very crowded, and on site parking was a challenge for some. A manager was quick to apologize and make it up to guests. The salads are to die for, and the food was great in terms of taste, presentation, and uniqueness. Throughout one meal, a server made guests feel delighted they were there. The food earned a wow, including a traditional eggs, ham, potatoes, and toast plate and a Mexican breakfast bowl (barbacoa chilaquiles -- a flavorful but not overly spicy dish of seasoned braised beef barbacoa tossed with Cheddar and Monterey Jack, ranchero sauce, crispy corn tortilla chips, fresh avocado, lime crema, Cotija cheese, eggs over medium, seasoned black beans and housemade pico de gallo). Plenty of delicious food and a great atmosphere made it a terrific addition to the downtown Norfolk breakfast scene. A large group with reservations found a very nice and clean restaurant, with great service and food. Others warn not to eat here if in a hurry, describing a lunch that took 1 hour and 40 minutes. The fall menu was great. Food is fresh and delicious and servers are very friendly, though the restaurant may be short on staff.

We waited a long time for our food. However, our server was new. It took about an hour to get our food, and the order was mixed up. The place was very crowded and on site parking was a challenge.

The manager was quick to apologize and to make it up to us. The salads are to die for, and the food was great in terms of taste, presentation, and uniqueness.
Throughout the meal our server, Tatiana, made us feel like she was delighted we were there. And the food... wow! We ordered a traditional eggs, ham, potatoes, and toast plate, and a Mexican breakfast bowl (barbacoa chilaquiles -- a flavorful but not overly spicy dish of seasoned braised beef barbacoa tossed with Cheddar and Monterey Jack, ranchero sauce, crispy corn tortilla chips, fresh avocado, lime crema, Cotija cheese, eggs over medium, seasoned black beans and housemade...read full review
We had a large group go here for breakfast today. We called the day before and made reservations, so our table was ready when we arrived. Very nice and clean restaurant. Service and food were both great. I definitely recommend this place and want to return.
