The only reason I gave this place 4 stars is because it took a long time to get our food but the food drinks atmosphere and waiter were amazing. I got the stuffed pork chop smashed potatoes and asparagus bang bang shrimp appetizer and cheese cake for desert and it was so delicious. On the pricy side but so worth it.

First time here in this charming restaurant. The service was excellent, the atmosphere was wonderful.Unfortunately most of the food fell short in quality. My friends stuffed pork chop was very dry and overcooked. Minuscule amount of stuffing and also dry. Nothing about it was good. ?.The ribs were very good in taste, temperature and quality. Someone there knows how to make excellent ribs. Mashed potatoes were flavorful, but not hot.The final kicker was the tax! Holy cow 12 percent? (Not the restaurant’s fault)Sorry but it a disappointing experience.

Everything is so good! The staff and the atmosphere, mixed with the history and food, really make this place.

The food was amazing, and the atmosphere is a definite conversation starter, being that it used to be a church. The venue is full of character, and the food is flavorful.

Very cool place, was a former abbey turned restaurant 35 years ago. Love the feel and good food. The broil seafood platter was tasty, a little too much salt for me but probably because I don’t eat much salt. Service is great, we came during off hour during the week so no wait.

Lovely “LOVE” One

Well I have to agree on over cooked steak and should know a lot of people can’t eat well-done meat especially burnt other than that good food

We had out rehersal dinner here before our wedding with our family. It was a great experience. The food was first order. This is by far one of my favorite local spots!

Make sure you reserve a spot. It wasn't super busy when I went but a sign as you enter encourages it. Also a couple locals mentioned it to me.Overall the atmosphere is beautiful. As you walk in you can see the great wood work of the building and the attempts to preserve the beauty. The server I had was very attentive. He was very professional and the food came pretty quick. The prices here are not bad especially for the downtown Norfolk area.I had the April $35 3 course special. The fettuccine, she crab soup and bread pudding were amazing. The individuals I went with got steaks and all had great things to say. One got the Salmon and said it was amazing!Overall I'd say this was a great experience for the staff, atmosphere, experience, and food was great! I will return here.Cons:It's a bit noisy but honestly it's an old church. It's designed to carry noise and it's really not that bad.

I so wanted to like this place. Such a great location and building but the food wasn’t even diner worthy. Felt like they just add a bunch of spices to try to make it better but the food was meh. So sad

Wife and i visited tonight. What a lovely place. Service and atmosphere are good. I had the ceasar salad and special burger. It was good. My wifes pasta was good. But as you see, im not saying the food was great. It was good. Will i be back? I dont know. I live in virginia beach and if we head out to norfolk, theres one restaurant we go out there for (not freemason abbey). We just wanted to try something different and found that we will probably go to our original favorite norfolk restaurant next time.
