A staple. Probably the best selection of vegan and non vegan greasy spoon style grub in RVA. There is no other 821, they have stayed tried and true throughout the years and its a testament to awesome food and old school diner style/dive diner spot. Long live 821!
One of the prettier cafes I've been lucky enough to step foot in. We kinda knew the place was gonna be packed, so we just ordered for pickup. My partner got some French Toast with bananas on it, and it was lovely. While I don't mind egg, she really appreciated the minor amount of egg wash for the toast. I’ve been coming to 821 long enough that it feels less like a restaurant and more like a community spot. The food is great, the beer is cold, Flora is always welcomed, but the people are what keep me coming back.
Jocelyn is one of the reasons you’ll find me there on Fridays. She’s always been incredibly kind, has an amazing creative eye, and provides top-notch customer service. Watching her go from student to graduate has been really cool.
