Let me be clear, this restaurant is not for everyone. I am a native of Richmond and coming "home" does not always feel like home. But this restaurant felt like for a few hours nothing else mattered. Like Auntie was in the kitchen making my plate special and I laughed and talked over glassES of wine. Tonight was my first visit to Bateau but it will not be my last. The food was sublime. The service attentive & courteous. The ambience relaxing & the live music performance relaxing. I enjoyed every minute I spent at the restaurant and cannot wait to return.
We had a wonderful evening dining at Bateau. The red snapper was outstanding. It was served on a bed of jasmine rice with a side of roasted, vegetables accented by the honey glaze on the fish and cooked to perfection. The atmosphere along the canal was an added treat to our outdoor dining experience. The owner was a wonderful host and the service was personal and professional.
