My husband ordered food directly through El Gallo Pinto Costa Rica’s website after working a 15-hour shift (and being awake much longer than that). He had been involuntarily assigned to transport supplies to Washington, D.C. for government-related work despite not even working for the government. He was completely exhausted and just wanted a meal before finally getting some sleep.
He placed the order on the restaurant’s website, which automatically redirected it through DoorDash. The order was confirmed, had an order number, and had already been assigned a driver. Then, out of nowhere, the restaurant canceled the order.
Since my husband was exhausted, I called on his behalf. The first employee told me their DoorDash tablet wasn’t even on, they never received an order, and they didn’t cancel anything. Then another employee admitted they did cancel the order because they weren’t working with DoorDash. During this process, I was hung up on twice.
I then contacted DoorDash. Their customer service was polite and confirmed there was a valid order, a driver had been assigned, and the restaurant canceled the order. Unfortunately, because the order was placed through the restaurant’s website, DoorDash couldn’t issue a refund and advised me to contact the restaurant.
When I called the restaurant back and explained what DoorDash had told me, the employee began speaking to someone else in Spanish while I was talking and completely ignored me. Every time I tried to explain the situation, she talked over me. I repeatedly said that all I wanted was our money back. Instead of helping, she denied everything and then hung up on me again. After that, they stopped answering the phone altogether.
I was polite at the beginning of every conversation. It wasn’t until I was repeatedly hung up on and ignored that I became frustrated. Mistakes happen, but the way this situation was handled was completely unprofessional. Hanging up on customers instead of trying to resolve the issue is unacceptable.
If you’re going to take orders through your website that are routed through DoorDash, then you need to honor those orders or at least communicate professionally when something goes wrong. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend this restaurant. Save yourself the frustration and spend your money somewhere that values its customers.

I tried the burrito at El Gallo Pinto Costa Rica on Hull Street Rd, and it was definitely a good size with a unique flavor. The service was good and friendly, but a little slow. That being said, even though it had a Mexican flag next to it, it’s really not anything like a Mexican burrito. It has its own style and taste, so I think they should probably market it differently to avoid confusion.

This is one of the few places in town that you can get breakfast lunch or dinner to go at 5 AM in a choose from a buffet in the kitchen type of setting. The prices are very reasonable. I walked out with plates all the time that should be $30 and I pay $10-$15. Also, they have a variety of Latin foods.

I went to this place and ordered a pollo con tajadas I specifically asked for the chicken breast—and what did they give me? The thigh, and it wasn't even cooked properly. I’ll recommend you check your order before you leave this place to make sure you get what you ask for. This place used to be better.

It was pouring a there was a leak inside but th service was good and sitting down was easy as well as ordering. You can hear the chef singing while he cooks and the food was delicious! Will come back when I need something similar to home.

My favorite breakfast spot! I Door Dash this to my job! Today, my husband and I dined in. I had my favorite Desayuno Tico Breakfast with Jamaica drink. My husband had carne Asada with Oat drink. It was all delicious and great atmosphere with kind staff.
First time I tried it, I had salmon and chicken tacos, the salmon was cooked perfectly nice not overcooked the veggies where great. The tacos was delicious Chicken cooked perfectly as well. Will definitely eat here again the service was great by the time I arrived food was packed and ready to go. Nice women that work there as well.

No consistency with the orden de taco/steak Today orden steak tacos, the meat was crumbs from the bottom of the pot. I’m dissappointed. What they gave me was like they were running out of meat. So they fixed my tacos with the crumbs. I’m very disappointed! I guess because I didn’t tip even though I drive to pick up the order myself.
