RVA is a mecca for new music. Dive is the most recent addition to the group of excellent venues dedicated to independent music.The decor is superb. Beautiful Turkish lamps, gilded birdcages and leafy "branches" above the bar create a magical feel, while comfortable cushions and padded recessed booths complete the vibe.The stage is small and has good proximity to the audience and it is easy to see from the whole room. I had fun they just never did the Halloween costume contest like they promoted and that was the whole reason I came there. There wasn't much to do either. False advertising at its finest...
Not a bad spot, but the name does give the impression that this is some kind of funky temporary POP UP bar and it is most definitely not temporary. My date and I felt like we had been tricked.
