I love this place!! Their drinks are great and they have tequila shots for $5! They also have the best shrimp and fish tacos I've ever had. Period.

Popped into The Annex for a beer but ended up enjoying the food so much, I felt compelled to write a Yelp review. Honestly, this is the best Mexican/Tex-Mex in Richmond. Chef Dave is super passionate about what he's doing and it shows. I tried the grilled shrimp chalupa. The flavors were insane and it was a super generous portion. My girl had the chorizo Gordita subbed with tofu--she said it was the best she's ever tasted. Seriously, give this spot a try. The food is incredible.

I really truly wanted to love this spot. It can be a cute happy hour spot, BUT JUST FOR DRINKS. I am in no way a picky eater but the food was just... Bad....lets get to the shits. There is parking on the side of the building, BIG PLUS. Upon walkin we (my wife and I) were warmly greated, and sat at the bar. The inside is beautiful, very tastefully decorated. Was given 3 menus, the happy hour, the drink and the food menu. We decided on the sour patch margarita and a house margarita, both frozen. The house margaritas was good, pretty average. The sour patch margarita tasted just like the house margita. Disappointing.. We ordered the taquitos and that is where we f***** up :( the chicken was OVER COOKED and SATURATED in grease. Not to mention the taste :( needless to say we didn't order anything else, out of fear. We will come back, but just for house margaritas on happy hour, and that's not even guaranteed as a chef I just cannot give this place anything more than 2 stars and the only reason it got two is because the bartender was nice.

Cool place. Try the chalupas and gorditas. Spicy pork chalupa and chorizo gordita crunch are excellent. Great happy hour prices with $5 margaritas. Impressive selection of high end tequilas. Great service too.

Im doing meatless today so I opted for the Southwest Eggsrolls, they are filled with rice, beans and veggies...a bit underwhelming but served hot with a side of chipotle ranch sauce. I'd definitely come back for the drinks and the bartender was super cool!

Best Tex-Mex in RVA! Highly recommend the signature tacos and the Loaded Tots! They recently acquired two new chefs who really know what they're doing. If you haven't been, you're really missing out! Most of the menu is under $10 too. Bar service is awesome. Can't wait to get back in there!

Had some really nicely done smoked ribs with maybe the best spears of asparagus ever. The bartender dude was a righteous sweetheart guiding my tequila choices. I will more than likely stop by here again.

The food and drinks were average, the space is really cool, staff is very nice, but I couldn't get over how slow the service was. The restaurant was busy but nothing out of the ordinary for a Friday evening in the Fan, yet everything took at least 10 minutes longer than it should have. We had to cancel a round of drinks ordered because we waited so long that we ran out of time to drink them before leaving. We gave the waitress 25 minutes to get our checks since we had a class registration after. The checks process to split up 6 checks with 1-2 items each took 30 minutes and made us late to our class. A policy against splitting checks and processes to make the happy hour drink specials in <10 minutes is definitely warranted here until the staff is better trained or more staff is hired.
Came to the Annex on a double date night. The margaritas and Southwest Eggroles kicked us off really well. Chef DaVe spent a great deal of time with us at our table to help with some of our dietary restrictions. All four entrees we got were awesome. Everything from the vegetarian enchiladas to the big old burrito with Fiket Mignon. We will definitely be back.

Best tacos in Richmond! We came on Taco Tuesday and all of the tacos are half off - could not believe such a delicious dinner was so affordable. We read on here that new chefs started about a month ago and we can vouch that they are doing a great job! Our server was super nice and attentive . . Overall just a great experience.. We will definitely be back soon!

Doesn't handle customer feedback well, which left me turned off. Never order a frozen margarita, which was $16, a Slurpee will do and you can actually put in better Tequila that you can taste. I had beef empanadas that were visibly over cooked and was shocked they served them. By that point, it was a wrap for me. The City needs to give back this bar to whatever locality it annexed it from.

I went to The Annex this past weekend with my boyfriend and it was absolutely incredible! We sat at the bar and were served immediately. The bartender was extremely helpful and made sure we were always taken care of. When you go, be sure to try their margaritas! Our favorite part however, was the food. The chef personally came out to explain the menu to us, as it was our first time and helped us decide on a few of his favorite dishes. I highly recommend their wings as an appetizer! The menu has been recently updated so if you have not been there within the past month, I highly recommend you go back to try their new menu! The staff here is very welcoming and they make you want to become regulars because they are so personable. This will definitely become a weekly date spot for us, as the restaurant has a mellow vibe and delicious food.
