Very poor advertising and subsequent communication for an event. I attended the "cooking class" on 12/7 at the Main St. Richmond location. The advertisements all stated a price of $50, but EventBrite charged $75/ticket before fees (the only way to pay). The hosted chef was informative and the food was good, but it was not "hands on", which is how the class was advertised (including on the hand out printed and given to us when we entered). The Pit and The Peel Westhampton is a popular spot known for its smoothie bowls and quality ingredients. Customers frequently enjoy the Bee’s Knee’s Bowl, which consistently comes out great, and appreciate the overall good texture and taste of the bowls. However, some reviews mention that the house base can taste quite banana-forward, and the Berry Base is more icy with a stronger açaí flavor. There is some inconsistency in ingredient communication, which can be confusing, especially regarding toppings like blueberries. The staff are generally friendly and helpful, with some customers noting the staff’s kindness and good service, especially when resolving issues like rewards or app problems. Despite this, the restaurant often faces challenges with staffing, leading to long wait times, and at times, difficulty in reaching the location by phone. Prices are considered high by some, with smoothies costing around $15, which is seen as expensive compared to other cities. Overall, the restaurant is appreciated for its quality product and friendly staff, but improvements in communication and staffing could enhance the experience.
