My boyfriend and I came to the Savory Grain to celebrate our 7 year anniversary last night. Highly recommend making a reservarion (super easy to do online) as it was busy when we arrived at 7:15pm. It was our first time here but the food, atmosphere, and service were all AMAZING. Our server Kim was phenomenal and made it a truly great experience. The food was cooked to perfection and their cocktails are unique AND delicious. Can't wait to come back to try more.

Amazing service, great food, wonderful atmosphere. Live music on Sunday was a little loud and our party found ourselves almost yelling at each other to be heard but it was still an overall great experience. Many thanks to staff who made this birthday so special!

We have been here several times and have had an excellent experience each time. This time we brought a house guest with us, she thoroughly enjoyed the pot pie. It was so good she had her leftovers for breakfast! The cornbread was fantastic and my steak cooked perfectly. We will return again and again and again.

We shared appetizers which were so filling and delicious that we took the salads we'd ordered home to eat the following day! Our waitress made great recommendations! We had the largest serving of Brussels sprouts I've ever seen and they were amazing! The bruschetta and stuffed jalapeño poppers were super tasty too! Next time I'm trying the pimento cheese appetizer and maybe an entree! My friend got a slice of chocolate peanut butter pie and loved that too!

Had a reservation for Sunday Brunch 1:00 but had to wait 15 minutes to be seated. Server showed up about 10 minutes later, said she would return with water. Dropped off the water and rushed off without taking our order. Returned in about 10 minutes. I ordered a Bloody Mary and she said they were out. My Spouse tried to order crab cakes and she said they were out. We got up and left. Servers should always tell their customers if they are out of menu items before customers' order. How can any restaurant be out of Bloody Mary's for Sunday Brunch. The restaurant was filled with a waiting line but by the time we were seated tables had opened up. From the host station to the service it was totally disorganized.

Overall terrific as usual. Got a little loud over the course of the meal. Had a new server so a couple of hiccups but mainly a lack of familiarity with food intolerance issues. We WILL be back

We had the bacon-wrapped stuffed jalapeños as always (they are the BEST!) then my friend had Salmon with asparagus and cornbread, and I had the scallops with mushroom risotto and asparagus. It was all fabulous and servings were generous. The sauvignon blanc was a bit warmer than I like, and our waitress, Lizzie went out of her way to put it on ice, and was so attentive.

The crab and spinach dip, she crab soup, corn bread, and shrimp and grits were all excellent, as was the service. The crab cake sandwich was ok, and had a LOT of shells. I had put "date night" on the reservation, and we were at a two top right by the hostess station, crammed between two four tops, and under a speaker, all of which made conversation almost impossible. Overall, an app, two soups, a dinner and a a sandwich totaled $144 after tip, AFTER they kindly knocked off $4 for the shell heavy crab cake. Overall, it was good, but probably not worth the price point.

Really cool atmosphere, interesting drink and food menu. Unfortunately, two people in our party ordered steaks and they were not prepared properly -- way overdone. The server was very apologetic and our bill was adjusted by a percentage. Otherwise, a very enjoyable evening.

Amazing spot in Richmond right on Broad Street. Park in the neighborhood behind the restaurant and explore as you walk to this gem in the city.

Great jazz brunch. Bennies and quiches are excellent, crispy and salty homefries are a must, but the star of the show was the grits — just get it as a side if your entree doesn’t come with it. Ansel was great server, but he was being pulled left and right (maybe they were understaffed that day?). Live jazz music heals everything though. Enjoy!

Always a great experience. Food is always fresh, staff is friendly and attentive and the owner is visible and oversees the kitchen. Recently, added raw oysters from the Chesapeake Bay. Also serve great mussels. There is wonderful jazz every Thursday and they recently started featuring jazz on Friday nights including local greens like Roger Carroll, Kelli Strawbridge, Aynde Williams, Randal Pharr and others. Not to be missed!!

Had reservations today, was greeted as soon as you walked in with friendly hostess, however, she sat us right next to the front door so we felt a cold breeze each time the door would open. My bf ordered the burger and he stated it was solid delicious burger, while I had the chicken pot pie. Although delicious, mines was more soupy and barely any crust. The crust partially covered the cast iron. I wished I would have gotten a picture. Must have been an off night as I read another review with crust issues from the same night. Prices are a little high especially a burger and side for $17 but given the location and atmosphere (they have jazz nights), the price can be justified. Server was attentive and efficient. Would return again.
