Great cafe atmosphere, but bring a sweater. Service is some of the best in Richmond. We sat in the far back, in a somewhat hidden area, but our waiter didn't forget or hound us. Fish and chips was a great serving size, and they had malt vinegar. Parking can be challenging.

Stopped by the village cafe at the bar just for some wings to go, crazy they don’t take apple pay. Had to cancel the entire order. In what year are we living in where you live in a college surrounded area and you don’t take apple pay. And it’s so sad because I went to college at VCU and I’ve eaten here before. Multiple years later and you haven’t updated payment methods is crazyyyy.

I visited Village Cafe with friends, and the service we received was absolutely terrible. Our server, Tianna, was rude throughout the entire meal—every interaction was unpleasant. When the check came, we decided not to leave a tip due to the poor service.

About 10 minutes after leaving, I realized I had left some of my food behind. When I went back to retrieve it, Tianna told me she had thrown it away because we hadn’t left a tip. This is completely unacceptable. I work in the service industry myself and understand the importance of tipping—but good customer service should be expected when spending your money.

I will not be returning to Village Cafe.

This is a cute little spot to grab drinks with friends and a quick bite to eat. Unfortunately, the experience I had wasn’t great. My friends and I came to eat a late dinner and was waited on by Tianna. She had a very unpleasant attitude while serving us, the reason I’m not sure. At the end when the check came we decided to not leave a tip due to the lack of customer service she displayed. As we were leaving she yells for the back “thanks for the tip” in a very sarcastic tone of voice. About 10 mins after we leave my friend realizes he left his food. He turns around to go get it and she states she “threw it away because we didn’t leave a tip.” I have no problem with tipping, as I work in the service industry myself, however I do expect to receive good customer service in an establishment where I am spending my money. I can definitely say I will not be back to Village Cafe.

I love the village! It’s the most quaint little spot . You come in and seat yourself. I’ve honestly never had a wait here. The food is traditional diner food, hot I’d recommend trying their soups (i love them!), their mozzarella balls, and their pancakes! Their soups come on a rotating schedule (i.e., for 2 days they may have a certain soup, then they’ll switch it up). Their mimosas are also very good if Lily is making them! S/o to Lily always being so friendly and kind, and just a vibe overall!!! I FW U! The other staff is also great. If you’re around VCU, on the campus, I’d def recommend!! It’s a simple, easy place to eat, and i love their booths. The privacy is *chefs kiss*

I had an amazing time here last night
The food was wonderful and quick to come out and my waiter, Michael, was very nice. My only complaint is that the food is a bit expensive but other than that the vibes were good all around

It was okay. Got the bbq platter and it was just like…yeah. The food didn’t really taste homemade. Like a heat and serve place. Not terrible, but…nah.
