I was very disappointed coming to this restaurant for brunch, especially with their great reviews. They paid no attention to dietary restrictions, putting bacon on top of eggs when we specifically asked for them on a separate plate. The host was rude and when we asked for a section change after being placed on the incredibly claustrophobic second floor, we were initially dismissed.
The food was okay, but not worth the price. Consider skipping here if you have dietary restrictions.
Dietary restrictions: They were not able to accommodate, they did not put pork on a separate plate and did not make any effort to remake the dish when it was pointed out.

I notice that the seating for blacks were placed in the back an upstairs as if they were finding them.

The atmosphere and staff were amazing! They were super nice and timely. The food was okay, it wasn't anything special. I likely wouldn't go here again unless someone I was going out with wanted to.

Atmosphere, prices and speed of service were good. Staff were all friendly but our server Lily was great. Food was just okay and it was disappointing they couldn't provide any real butter from the kitchen. Only option was whipped butter that had been sitting in the sun in the window. With so many breakfast options in town I won't come back. Husband also said there was a roach walking in the men's bathroom.

if i could give this place 0 stars, i would. i’ve been here 3 times. first 2 times were great!!! the 3rd time, i had a different waitress who cussed me out, insulted my friends and i, chased me out of the restaurant, and got in my face. as a restaurant that has college signs inside their business everywhere , i can’t believe that’s how they treat students. i am a server of 3+ years myself and i can’t even imagine talking to a customer (let alone anyone) the way i was talked to. ive never had an issue with anything at any restaurant ive been to and i am always a great guest because im a server and i know how it is. after i left, my friends and i were so upset that we decided to call the manager and let them know what happened. the manager is extremely rude and unprofessional so if something is wrong with your experience at this restaurant, don’t even try to have it be resolved. i would love to come back, but i would fear for my safety if that waitress was there. i suggest steering clear of the tall, tattooed, dark haired white “waitress”.
AC is on to high. I eat out exclusively. Around 1k every month. Usually at the bar here. Bar service is dedicated to the personal friends of bar staff almost every night. So service for regular customers come second to friends of bar staff. Portions are massive. It may be the culture. I never doggie bag and I only eat out. So I order infrequently here now. For some reason bar tender said he was told not serve me any longer without any explanation. I have many other places to done out in Richmond. I probably should cut this place off once they've started charging me for water and over charging. I've dined in over four continents in three hundred cities plus. Charge for water? I won't miss the village

Today was my first time eating at the Village Cafe, and it was a stunning experience. The Rockfish and Chips were delicious, and I had no complaints about my meal. I also tried the iced tea, which was really good. The seating on the deck had a stunning view, and the waiters were very nice. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience at the Village Cafe today, and I will definitely be back.
Best place to get breakfast in
