“Just finished a great lunch here. We settled in outside, Calvin took our order and shortly brought it to the table. A warm summer drizzle added to the ambiance under the wide table umbrella. After the second bite, the torrent hit and Calvin appeared to hustle us and our meals indoors to dryer accomodations. Thank you, Calvin for great service!!! And the chef is appreciated too as the food was first rate.“

“EXCELLENT sandwiches and services! This was our first time visiting and could not have been more impressed with this restaurant. My husband, who is incredibly picky and hates trying new things loved his Italian sandwich so much he got one to go. Our server was able to suggest a wine that was also delicious. Will definitely be going back!!“

“My husband and I were in town for the Virginia Scenic Railway and stopped at Kathy’s before our trip. The food was delicious, and the bread pudding was absolutely incredible. What truly made our visit unforgettable was Debbie, our waitress. She was so genuinely kind and warm that she literally brought me to tears. She shared that she works part-time for her customers and said that had she already been retired, she would never have met my husband and me. That really touched my heart. We left saying we would gladly make the three-hour drive back and we would absolutely return to Kathy’s. It wasn’t just a meal; it was an experience we won’t forget.“

“Last night we had a family meal at Zynodoa, there were 11 of us. There are many restaurants who like to say they are Farm to Fable sourcing locally. Zynodoa is Farm to Table! Starting with the excellent service by Sarah and the wait staff. The starters, the main dishes, the sauces. "Par Excellence"“

“Feb. 21, 2026 - Looking for an elegant dining option in Staunton . . . try Chop House Tavern ! 😃👍. My wife & I waited a week after Valentine’s Day rush. . . Combined a wonderful dinner with a play at ShenanArts downtown Staunton.
You’ll probably need reservations! It’s worth it ! Our server Jen “walked us through” cocktails & appetizers. We did mention that we had a show in 2 hours . . . No problem , and not rushed!
We started with an excellent dry red wine , I think from the Barboursville Vineyard. Jen brought over a delightful focaccia bread & butter! Again no rush, we enjoyed a wonderful garden salad with “ the house” vinaigrette dressing! (See photos)
Onto our entrees. . . my ordered a Faroe Island Salmon cooked perfectly!
I almost selected a big ribeye steak, but Jen ( our server) suggested breast duck ! Glad she did, excellent choice with crème fraiche mashed potatoes with a “ house made” Demi-glaze ! So delicious 😃👍!
On our Valentine’s date. . . Glad we saved enough room for the Buttercream Chocolate Cake with mixed berry compote! Fantastic to the last crumb!
