“Another gourmet dinner and pleasant experience. We split the scallops starter, steak Nicoise with sides of beets and mushrooms. All were cooked perfectly with interesting sauces and flavors(like horseradish sauce cream sauce on the beets). Our friends came to C&O for the first time and loved it.“
“We chose this place because it was new to us and it was our 16th anniversary dinner. Not only were we pleasantly surprised by the hospitality from beginning to end but also by the ambience and delicious foods. Our server , Cecelia was beyond delightful, enthusiastic and knowledgeable. She and Michael made our meal that much better of an already delightful experience. The chef, kitchen and experienced beverage team catered to our dietary and beverage needs without a problem and pivoted seamlessly. We appreciated the culinary experience and will recommend Broadcloth to everyone. We will absolutely be back !“
“The facility speaks of elegance, and the menu covers most tastes. Food is well prepared and presented. The food temperature was very good except for broccoli - it was cold. The waiter could have been more attentive - eventually, another waiter came and cleared our table. This is a great restaurant. It just needs a few tweets to make it top shelf.“
“In recent years, each Easter has wound up taking on a theme based on whatever core activity Mom and I have chosen to participate in. “Casual elegance” and “I trust” certainly summed up this year. It may initially seem like an impossible contradiction, but from the moment you arrive at The Clifton, you find that not only is “casual elegance” is very achievable but that the ability to achieve that balance is core to the venue's charm. It's about finery being presented in a genuinely warm, inviting way. It's like being greeted after a long journey, shown to a cozy library where you can relax and warm yourself by the fire, while being excitedly told "Wait until you see what we have prepared for you today! We really hope you'll like it!" From the moment I saw that The Clifton was hosting a curated 3-course meal, I knew that was my first choice for how to spend the day and glad when that matched the tone Mom was in the mood for as well. That is where "I trust" came into play. I didn't know exactly what we'd be eating but I wasn't the least bit concerned about it. Having already witnessed how exceptional even "burger and fries" produced in Chef Matthew's kitchen was, I knew to trust that whatever was presented before me, I was not going to be disappointed. That trust was once again validated on Sunday. Not only was everything that Mom and I ordered amazing, but it also disproved the notion that "fine dining" means you must leave the table hungry. There is a very logical nature to the menu options in each category. Mom ordered the oysters and shrimp choices ... I ordered the smoked salmon waffles and leg of lamb ... and, in both approaches, the portion sizes were exactly what we wanted. Both of us got exactly what we wanted and got exactly as much food as we wanted overall. The fact this was so easy to achieve is yet another demonstration of Chef Matthew's expertise in achieving a wonderfully balanced experience for a variety of people and appetites.“
“A go-to recommendation for larger parties (6-8), vegetarians, or parties with a variety of tastes and preferences. You'll get high-minded flavors in a relatively casual setting with excellent service. Oakhart has some of the best vegetable dishes in the city (beets or charred carrots), while also offering excellent pizzas. The cocktails are creative and affordable ($13). Consistently a five star experience.“
“I was visiting the area for a concert, and my friend and I stumbled upon this place. It had an excellent selection of beer and the bartenders were very informative and helpful when choosing the right beer for us. I was not hungry, but my friend got a huge chicken sandwich that smelled and looked delicious. Additionally, they have a bookshelf of games, so my friend and I were able to drink beer, have some food, and play some cards games, too. Overall, atmosphere is a busy yet casual beer hall. I will definitely return to this place next time I am in the area.“
“Cute and intimate cocktail bar with sophisticated seasonal / local sourced inspired fare. We had fried fingerling potatoes sprinkled with cayenne pepper and a lemony aioli that was the perfect starter, then a fancy potato bisque drizzled with olive oil and pickled onions, and a snack board of our choice that did not disappoint. Crunchy grilled bread, roasted red pepper or butter and shallot spreads, fancy vinegar based deviled eggs with garlic chips, pickled red beets.. all so good. Capped off with our favorite drinks. This would be a great first date destination.Fall in love at the Tonic❤️“
“We ate at Broadcloth. It was excellent! The four of us each had the four-course selection. Scallops, pork confit, spinalis dorsi tartare, rib-eye, and dark chocolate crémeux were all to die for. Service was also top notch. Other places in C-ville should take lessons from this place.“
“Service and food were impeccable! The food had the best flavor and melted in your mouth. Never had to wait on a server to get a refill or food order as they consistently checked back but without being over bearing. Just all around amazing, would highly recommend and will definitely revisit if I am in the area again as I was just in town visiting.“
“Went for lunch on a weekday. They weren't too busy and we were able to get a table and get our food without too much wait. We both ordered a pick two. I had a ham and brie wrap which was really good and a ceasar salad which was just okay. Overall the restaurant was neat and I will probably go again, but will not be ordering the salad again.Wheelchair accessibility: This is in a basement down some steps.“
“The food was delicious and there was something for everyone in our party of 5. Including 2 vegetarians and a picky 6 year old! The ambience is absolutely perfect, it just felt cool to be there. Our server, Ephraim, was truly awesome. He made us feel welcomed right away, he was efficient and quick and friendly and our food was perfect and all of us were in agreement that this experience was absolutely perfect. We will return and encourage others to do the same!!! 10/10!!“
“I secured reservations well in advance for my bday dinner. I'm so glad I did! It was amazing! Everything we ate was absolutely perfect! We ordered 9 plates for 2 people and took home 4 to-go boxes! We definitely over ordered, but we wanted to try so many things! Tapas sizes are perfect for 2. I even scored a free dessert for my birthday! This place is in my top 3 best restaurants in Charlottesville. Can't wait to go back! The staff was friendly and efficient. Parking can be difficult to find, as it's all street parking.“
“We can’t say enough good things about our experience at Duner’s! We had mixed drinks, appetizers, entrees, salads, soups and dessert. There were 6 of us and we all agreed EVERYTHING was delicious! Usually at most restaurants there’s at least one thing that isn’t as great when that much is ordered, but that definitely wasn’t our experience! We each tried a bite (or more) of everything that was ordered and we couldn’t have been more impressed! The only downside is the noise level, which unfortunately we contributed to a good bit, but the staff handled our larger party with grace and patience! The excellent food and service more than makes up for the noise. Highly recommend!!“
“Small spot gets a little crazy late night. Good cheap drink on the downtown mall. Supports Browns backers club.Vegetarian options: Buffalo cauliflower is good.Wheelchair accessibility: Basement bar, so you can get in, but tables are all high tops.“
“Sunday brunch is crowded. While we were in no rush, it did take 15 minutes before a server took our drink orders and by that time we placed our full order. It took another 15 minutes before our coffee drinks arrived. I ordered the chicken and biscuits over my usual eggs benedict but didn't expect the biscuits to be deep-fried bread ... almost like croutons and the chicken was more fried batter than chicken. My wife and daughter very much enjoyed their dishes, one was the pimento BLT. Don't recall the other.“
“After a long drive from NJ to VA it was great to have a relaxing dinner. I had the Root Burger; it was delicious. My husband devoured the fish & chips and my daughter was very pleased that grilled cheese was offered on the kids menu. Kudos to our server Wendy M. who was very professional, attentive, and kind.“
“The best service we have ever had at a restaurant. Ask for Derek as a server if you go. My husband’s tea glass was never more than half empty before it was being refilled. The atmosphere is very calm and romantic. We will definitely be back. Our newest favorite restaurant.“
“We held my sons rehearsal dinner here last night and it was great!! Everyone raved about the food and the service was top notch. Claudia was amazing as she kept everything moving and she took such good care of us. I can’t wait to go back for dinner one night.“
“On a freezing winter evening, my husband and I scored the perfect seats beside the fireplace where we warmed up with spicy mezcal cocktails. Both of our entrees were innovative and absolutely delicious. And the espresso martinis we had for dessert provided both the perfect ending to dinner and just enough illusionary warmth to make our walk next door to the Paramount Theater at least bearable, maybe even pleasant. This was our first trip to Zocalo, but it definitely won't be our last!“
“Prompt welcoming, immediate seating, followed by great wait service. Mixed drinks were done very well and the food was both hot and delicious. My wife had the shrimp and grits while I had the meatloaf. Both excellent. The cherry cheesecake was to die for. Highly recommend.“
“Our server was extremely nice and attentive. The food was a bit disappointing, though. It seemed like it need more seasoning or sauce or something (we had 6 different entrees and this was true of 4 of them). Also, it's pretty loud in the upstairs large room, so if someone in your party is hard of hearing, you might want to request a more quiet area.“
“My kids and I had breakfast here and it was delicious! The hot cocoa was creamy and delicious and the Belgian waffle was perfection. We didn’t have lunch or dinner here, so I can’t speak to that, but I highly recommend the breakfast, which was also very reasonably priced for a resort.Kid-friendliness: They were very kind to my children, offering kid safe cups with lids, extra napkins, and spacious seating .“
“The food was very good, especially the Cubano sandwich! The staff is so friendly and I love the decor - from the neon WAHOOS to the giant poster of Ralph and Patrick Ewing in their epic game. There are lots of tv screens for watching basketball - of course! Ralph was there greeting patrons and the atmosphere was a great warm up to the last men's basketball home game of the season. What a fun night! Go Hoos! ????“
“Stopped by on a Friday night for drinks. It wasn't too hard to find, reading the other Yelp reviews helped. It was pretty packed but we were able to get a table in the second room. We got two rounds of drinks and liked all of them! Really liked the speakeasy vibes and innovative cocktails!“
“BEST service I've ever had at a restaurant. Delicious cocktails and incredible wood fired pizzas. Came on a busy Valentines evening and was not disappointed in the slightest. Everything came out so quick and we were checked in on multiple times. Felt very taken care of here, especially by Tayler, our server. Couldn't recommend enough!!!“
“The service was wonderful with superb attention to detail (than you Jess). The food was spectacular, prepared with imagination and flair. We were especially impressed with how they navigated the obstacles of a Gluten Free diet. There's a lot to like about the Ivy Inn!“
