I’ve visited Buko Resto-Bar a few times in the past and had positive experiences, but my most recent interaction completely changed my opinion of this establishment.
I was planning to attend a K-pop event they had publicly promoted on their Instagram for August 31st. I was excited and prepared to go. However, a month before the event, they suddenly announced that it had never been finalized and that they had given the date to another party. This was despite proof of a contract and prior conversations with the owner confirming the booking. When asked about it, staff claimed they had no knowledge of the situation.
It’s extremely disappointing that Buko Resto-Bar did not honor their own agreement. This shows a lack of professionalism and reliability, and as a result, I will not be returning. If you are considering hosting an event here, I strongly recommend having a backup plan in place—because based on my experience, there’s no guarantee they will honor their commitments.

I have generally had a good time at Buko, but my recent experience with them was beyond disappointing. I was looking forward to participating in an event there. Unfortunately, they didn't uphold their contract with the event hosts causing them to find a new venue at the last minute. I don't like companies that don't keep their word. Especially when you have contractual obligations. Too bad they won't be seeing any more of my money. It just all felt too exclusionary for my tastes. The happy hour prices and mid drinks are not worth the disrespectful business tactics.

On May 21, 2025, we entered a written agreement with Buko Resto-Bar and its affiliates to host a K-pop themed event at their venue on August 31, 2025 with the arrangement of $200 for security and 10% of sales.

On July 25, 2025, we visited Buko Resto-Bar to confirm event details and upon speaking with Leya, we were verbally informed that our K-pop event was cancelled, due to a party who recently reserved the bar for the same day and paid a deposit. To which, we reminded Leya, and provided proof that our written agreement did not require a deposit. It was then that Leya’s story changed - we were not cancelled, but instead they were not aware of our event. Contradicting the social media posted on Buko Resto-Bar’s Instagram and Facebook on July 17, 2025, advertising the K-pop event. Of course, we inquired why the event was posted if we were “not aware of it,” to which we were told, “we don’t know who posted that or who runs our social media.” What kind of business doesn’t know who runs their social media?! Make it make sense!

Buko Resto-Bar and its affiliates took no accountability in the issue and instead of honoring our booking that was made well in advance, they attempted to reconcile by moving the date of our event and charging us $1,000 cash to confirm the new date. (I’m sorry, now I have to pay YOU for YOUR mistake?!?) When we requested documentation of their venue rental rates, Leya was unable to provide that information but ensured, “that they were not trying to get over on us” and that the $1,000 fee was at the discretion of the owner - the same owner they were telling us that was in the ICU! So I do not know HOW they came up with that number, when they had NO contact with the owner at the time!

Of course, I inquired why they couldn't contact the party that recently booked and inform them of the mix up to which Leya said, “we can’t cancel them without speaking with the owner.” So how did the K-pop event get cancelled?? It was CRICKETS! After much back and forth, we found out it was a family friend who booked and that’s why they were giving us the run around!

When we followed up with Buko, we reminded them that we will not be changing our event date due to their negligence, to which they proceeded to ghost us! Extremely unprofessional behavior!

This place could be easily missed if you don’t know where to look since it’s co-located in a gas station parking lot.
You can tell that this place is a popular weekend hot spot because they had a dj, offer karaoke and have a patio outside that has a ton of TVs for sports.

The service was prompt and the food was good. I ordered the crispy pata and it was delicious as expected and came with garlic rice. The lumpia was tasty as well. I don’t remember what drink I ordered because the food stole the show.
Just know that if you choose to sit at the enclosed patio, it’s smoker-friendly, that’s the only downside. It was a vibe but it stunk so badly because of the smokers. They didn’t tell us that it was smoker friendly and I’m surprised that they allowed it in an enclosed area.

Other than that this place was amazing.

Didn’t try the food there yet, but I love the happy hour! It’s from 5-9pm and the lemon drops shots are my fave!

I tried the 10-piece lumpia and WOW so fresh, perfectly crispy, and full of flavor! The sweet chili sauce took it over the top… absolutely delicious. 🙌 The food, the flavor, and the vibe all make me want to come back again and again. This definitely won’t be my last visit I’ll be ordering more for sure!

I am so glad I live within walking distance from Buko Resto. This place is great! The food is delicious and affordable. The cocktails are made well and the bartenders are polite and they serve drinks quickly. The hookah bar has a good selection. And the layout and atmosphere is just awesome; it doesn't feel like you're in virginia beach.

The waiter was very nice but it seemed the waiter was were more busy with the bar than the customers, it took us a while to get a refill for our waters and get checked on. The sisig was okay but it was pretty salty and the mango juice was pretty sour. We ordered garlic parmesan wings as well and they didnt really taste of parmesan and were sour..? We ordered lumpia and halo halo and we never got it, and it also seemed like the owner was judging us for the amount of food we ordered ..😭😭
