This was my 3rd time eating here. I won't be returning. The first time ok the food was ok. It was not really any different... The next time it was just ok. This last time today the chicken was salty and the cornbread was nasty. It was old. It was not moist and baked today. It tastes like it was 3 days old. I was really upset. I got 2 wings greens and a old piece of cornbread... It cost me almost 20.00 and to pay that amount I want my food to be fresh and baked same day. I won't be going back. I give all businesses a chance. I do! I love supporting businesses. I had one. A boutique on Lafayette Blvd but I had to close it... So I know what it is to have a business and pleasing your customers 😁 but today was the last day eating at Ellen's💜

Needed some Potato salad for dinner tonight. Ellen's did not disappoint! Flavor hangs out until you get more. Fantastic!

I wanted to surprise my family with a home cooked meal. I live in Dallas and wasn’t familiar with the restaurants in Virginia Beach. Someone told me to try Ellen’s. I ordered their turkey wings and pork chops with macaroni and cheese, greens/green beans. My brother and 2 sisters loved their dinners! They said they couldn’t believe the large portions and how delicious the food was! I am going to Ellen’s as one of my “go to “ restaurants in the future.

Everything I ordered was seasoned to perfection.

Ordered a pork chop sammie and collards and mac. Got 3 pork chops. A lot of food for $20. Collards and mac were good.

I LOVE going to Ellen's! The food is always fresh and delicious, and we're always greeted with a smile. Ellen's does A LOT to help the community, and that's commendable in the world we live in. While prices are going up everywhere else, Ellen's curated a menu of affordable eats! It is my pleasure to continue patronizing this establishment. *We tend to finish our food before I think to take pictures, smh. But we had a little of everything this visit, chicken, fish, pork, veggies, yams... listen - You can NEVER go wrong with Ellen's yams and collards! Never.

I wanted something so delicious to eat on my lunch break and I was highly disappointed. Ms. Ellen was sooo sweet and caring and the shop is absolutely beautiful, but the food was just not for me personally. I like my ribs more meaty and seasoned with some trauma, char, something to them. The yams were good. The Mac and cheese was cheesy, but needed more flavoring. My heart was broken when she allowed me to try to apple pie and it was served cold on aluminum foil. This to me gave the impression it was hot, but now has to be removed to heat it quickly in the microwave or wait for the oven. In 2025 the average cost of a meal is $20-25 and I just didn’t want this disappointing feeling.

A co worker bragged to me how good this place had good soul food my first time trying this place was horrible so On January 14 he had Oder me a Salisbury dinner with greens,potato salad and rice and gravy and corn bread The Salisbury was not cooked all the way was not seasoned didn’t have no onions the green was nasty they was sweet sugar don’t go in greens and the corn bread was stale he will be coming in there with pictures that I took of the bloody meat I lives in Norfolk cause I would’ve brought it back myself I was very,very Disappointed🙄😡 And I do have proof in my phone I wish I could’ve posted them up here anyway hopefully he’ll be in there sometime this week cause he is from Portsmouth

“Now this is SOUL FOOD!” Not to mention the awesome hospitality. The prices are great, along with the portions sizes and you can tell that every dish is made with love. Hands down, this place is unmatched. ❤️

The Turkey wings was very dry and the collards wasn't season you do get a lot of food but the quality of the food wasn't good I always came to this restaurant it had and the Passion of food it's not from the heart it's all about the money I know you have to make the money but the Passion is not there
