I would say the Blue Talon is a 4.5 star restaurant but I’m rounding up since Google doesn’t allow half stars. The food is very good for a small town location. We tried a few classic French dishes including beef bourguignon and duck cassoulet. The dishes were extremely flavorful and everything was fresh. The sauces were exceptional. The bread was also excellent and worth the extra charge. Everything was prepared with careful thought and skill. My only complaint...
I had high expectations for this restaurant given my positive experiences with others in Colonial Williamsburg (to include Fat Canary). Starting with the service, the staff were attentive and welcoming.
Unfortunately, the food was underwhelming. While portion sizes were reasonable, several dishes lacked the creativity and seasoning needed to stand out. The mussels and French onion soup were highlights, but the escargot and rotisserie chicken were only average.

The ambiance and service were satisfactory, with particular commendation for the server's attentiveness and pleasant demeanor. Regrettably, the culinary experience was subpar. While the rotisserie chicken exhibited a desirable crispness in its skin, the meat itself was somewhat dry. The Croque Madame, despite its generous portion, was unfortunately inedible due to the rancid taste of the ham, which was a significant disappointment.
