“Pantoufle is a must for anyone who loves good food.
We were two Brits on a tour from New Orleans to New York, arriving in Floyd on a Saturday.  After sampling mainly burgers, grits and gumbo for 11 days, we wanted to taste something different. We called in to Pantoufle on a whim and got a warm welcome. The French twist on familiar foods was tempting; we both enjoy visiting France so tried our luck. Happily, we were accommodated in the fully booked restaurant as soon as we arrived. How lucky we were!
My wife started with the leek and potato soup, then had the braised short rib ( as close to the french Boeuf Bourgignon as she can remember) with mashed potatoes. I started with bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar; you can tell a lot about a restaurant by the standard of bread and it was obviously home made. I progressed onto a white bean and slow-cooked shoulder of pork dish topped with fennel. It was excellent.
The wine was very reasonably priced, compared with all our other nights in the US, and delicious (we went with the recommendation of the owner, Grayson). It was a taste of France in Floyd.
Were I to return I would ask Grayson what he would recommend and not even look at the menu, such was my confidence in his knowledge, chef and desire to please.
We went on our way with delicious chocolates from his adjacent shop.

“I live in Las Vegas and was traveling through Virginia for the holidays. I googled this wonderful coffee shop so as picky as I am, I figured why not try it since it was a local owned shop. I'm tired of these name brand places so I prefer locally private owners.
I was absolutely impressed!!! Not only was the coffee perfect, but they also provide ordering and shipping off their website. The location is a local charm, very great atmosphere to be in, and there is a large bean roaster in the back that you can watch so it's definitely made fresh.

“Visited Jane's Country Cafe this past weekend after a long drive from Atlantic City, New Jersey. Friendly, fast service with a smile. We had an excellent meal and experienced authentic country food for the first time. Try the fried okra and collards. Wonderful experience!”

“Just by chance myself and my girlfriend were riding the Blue Ridge Parkway and was looking for someplace to eat and I just took off onto Rt 8 and she pulled up The Parkway Grille. Let me say that the little young one that took us to our seat was so attentive and amazed me of how young she was and sharp as a tack!!! Big compliments to the Chefs and the kitchen and the servers! The sandwiches that we both had were Hot served and were amazingly delicious!!! We were from Lynchburg and never had ever been in that quaint Little gem of a town of Floyd! “We've been coming to Chateau Morrisette for years but haven't been back since the restaurant re-opened a couple years ago. The host was a little overwhelmed it seemed and it took a while for us to be seated. They ended up putting us in a big room by ourselves. It was our anniversary dinner which I'd booked months ago. My husband loves it was only us but I was a little disappointed because the ambiance was a bit lacking on that side. We order the tuna tartare to start and it was nice but needed less avocado and more tuna. And served with some bread of crackers would have been nice. My duck was delicious but was a tad bit overcooked. My husband had the Osso Busco and it was delicious! The wine was great, our server was great and it was a cute touch having the resident pup come by and say hi at our table. We will be back, hopefully next time it will be as good as past experiences.”
