Allegro

A bit of a mixed bag for us. Jake was very congenial, welcoming, and kind. However - restaurants are about the food. Our calamari appetizer was great except for the heavy sweet sauce. It was not to my husbands and my taste tho our guest liked it. It seemed too cloying for the delicacy of the calamari. The sliced pepperoncini served with it was a nice twist. This is a very romantic space with a good wine selection and well executed dishes. They have some great cocktails as well. The staff is very friendly and approachable, landing them firmly in the "impressive but unpretentious" territory I always look for in an Italian restaurant.

It was hard to choose from this attractive menu so we had to have a starter and a main course, although we knew we wouldn't be able to finish anything. Happily the leftovers were still great the next day. I had the gnudi with peas and proscuitto and Scott had the crispy calamari (he did finish that!).
