West River Cafe Reviews
Very nice atmosphere and tasty victuals! Love this place!
It’s the best coffee house in the area. The drinks are organic and made beautifully. The pastries are outrageously well made, consistent, and delicious. Genuinely friendly staff and love music! The trip is worth it. It’s a treat. It’s got a great vibe.
Not sure where the photo on this page came from, and I didn't want to be negative about a local business, but... A couple of weeks ago at the Brattleboro Farmers Market, I had one of the worst croissants in my life. There were no layers, none at all, just a sort of dry-ish bun with a touch of butter taste. And it was $7.

West River Cafe is a hidden gem not far from Brattleboro. The moment you walk in, you are greeted with a genuine smile and a warm, cozy atmosphere. The coffee is some of the best, with a maple latte described as other worldly, and they roast their own coffee. The vibe in this place is perfection, with friendly staff and a quaint ambiance. A live violinist at 11:30 am was a pleasant, warm surprise on a snowy winter morning. Fresh pastries are baked daily, including a cheese and blueberry Danish that was fresh, super flaky, and just the right amount of sweet and savory. The BESTA chocolate pistachio croissant and an empañada with mushrooms and spinach are also mentioned as badass and amazing. Croissants are delicious, the perfect blend between soft on the inside and crunchy on the outside. The cafe interior is a little dark but has a cozy feel with warm, low lighting and tasteful decor. There is plenty of seating inside and outside, plus a bookshelf with locally made items for sale. The service is great, and the baked goods are hand-made from pure ingredients.
