Food was ok, kind of pricey, service was slow. One guy seemed to be waiting all the tables. One girl was just walking around refilling water. House margaritas were weak. Would not go back.

Awful service, just awful. I can’t think of a time in my life when a waitress spoke so rudely to us.
Food was not very good. Most of us left 3/4 of our meals untouched. We’ll skip this place next year when we come to town.

If you're looking for a great dinner experience in the Manchester Center VT area, I highly recommend Gringo Jack's. Great location, right on Main Street. The best Margaritas and the best Fajitas I have ever had!

I have been going to Gringo Jack's for many years, even when it was Candelero's. I visit every time I am in the area and was there this past weekend. I must say, the prices have just gotten out of control. About $30 for tacos is just incredible.. Same for the other food items. The last time I visited I ordered the Shrimp Tacos and they were terrible. This is not what people think of when they order Shrimp Tacos as they are baby shrimp...
This time, went with my wife and two daughters. They sat us in the other room this time (Not sure why) and we received water and menus right away (They brought chips as well). We noticed that the larger table in the room was getting plenty of service, but nobody had come to even offer a drink order after about 15 minutes. My wife asked if someone would be over to help us and we were told yes. After 10 more minutes of no service, we got up and left. I found think very strange for a family with two younger children arriving at about 5:15 to be an issue.
As someone who has been a customer for over 20 years, I must say I am seeing serious declines in both food and service.
I have always enjoyed Gringo Jacks. The service, food and atmosphere has always been good, especially sitting outside but if the decline continues, I wont be visiting again. Honestly, the prices are just out of control at this point. This was the first time I have had poor service...
Great food. Chips and salsa were amazing. Drinks were refreshing. Would definitely return
Upon arriving, my friend and I were asked if we wanted to sit in the “quiet room” we laughed and said sure. It was anything BUT QUIET…. 4 families with continuously crying babies…. It was so loud and distracting that my friend and I had a hard time talking to each other.
I had received an email promoting their “happy hour” specials for the week. Upon asking, I received a terse response that I needed to sit in the bar area to be able to receive these specials….
I guess we should have sat in the bar as the dining room was much louder than the bar.
I have lived in this area for 53 years and felt of Gringo Jacks as a staple for restaurants….. Not anymore.
My friend and I left and went to the Taconic for a relaxing glass of wine.
Very disappointed!!! Staff were rude and atmosphere was loud.

The food is heavily spiced, Americanized Mexican food (heavy on the red chili powder). Not Spanish rice, not refried beans, canned sweet corn in tamale batter. Go to the Avocado Pit for better food. Just get margs here. Nice outdoor seating. Ok vibe inside.
Fun atmosphere. Server was friendly, food was ok but not great.
Gringo Jack’s has the best fajitas we’ve ever had, perfectly seasoned and sizzling hot. The colorful decor and lively music create a fun, family friendly atmosphere, and the chips with fresh salsa are always crunchy and delicious. We also love their guacamole and tasty street tacos. Great food, great vibe, and reasonable prices. Would definitely come back again!

Very good food, not quite 5 star. Mole sauce was ok but thin. Enchiladas are really good and our server was great

Restaurantji Recommends
The atmosphere was very bad, no music and bad lighting made an unpleasant vibe. The food was ok but nothing special especially for the price. 64$ for two entrees and nothing else is ridiculously priced compared to other places in the area. Absolute rip off for the quality of this non-authentic food. Next time I visit Manchester I will not be coming here and would not recommend to anyone either.

Reasonably good Mexican. The highlight was the fish tacos and smoked pork tacos. The guacamole was a little too acidic and diced not smooth. The enchilads came with baby shrimp, not the regular shrimp in other dishes. I wish I knew that was disclosed I would not have ordered that. Otherwise good atmosphere and cool building.
