It's easy to see why this is the one burger place in town! I don't think anyone else can compete.

Soft, fresh buns with delicious meat. Being new to VT, I had to go with the Vermont burger that has the maple BBQ. It was great!

The fries and tots are great as well, and my kid ordered a hot dog and it was HUGE.

The restaurant atmosphere fits the burger place well. Order in the front where there's a large fridge of canned and bottled drinks, and then pickup from a window in the seating area. There's a self-serve table in the seating area with ketchup, mustard, and maple BBQ (which is excellent on the fries) along with water and cups.

I had the Vermonter double burger, and it was very tasty. This place has old-school burger joint vibes. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

One of the absolute greatest burger experiences of my life. It's worth getting the double. I can't believe I finished the Nutella shake. I barely touched the fries despite them being amazing, but the volume of food was top.

My daughter and I had a really fun time there and enjoyed the burgers greatly. She felt like it was a little bit of a 50s diner vibe

This was a delightful find as we were traveling on our Northeast Capitol tour.

i loved buddy’s! there’s nothing remotely fancy or elevated there, but the smash-style burgers are transcendent, the fries are very good, the selection of retro-style sodas is satisfying, and the milkshakes are real, thick, beautiful shakes. the atmosphere is tidy and casual fast food. speaking of fast, my order took about three minutes. all of the staff were friendly and helpful. the playlist is amazing: upbeat selections from the 70s and 80s. i’m not sure what i was expecting in the big rambling old historic building, but it wasn’t a perfect slice of americana, which buddy’s is. it’s my new go-to in montpelier.

I order from Buddy's at least once a month. I think the burger options are great (Gabe's is my fave) and when they have tots, they are pretty good, though best paired with the Chipotle Mayo.
My aging mind thinks it pricey, but it's cheaper than 5 Guys (and better) and frankly, not much more pricey that McD or BK, but significantly better. The shakes are pretty good as well.
The chicken tenders are just ok, but that's not what I'm there for.
The fries are pretty typical fare... if I didn't dip them, I'd want more salt.
The staff are great!! Friendly and interested in making customers happy.
We do take out most often, but the dine in experience is pleasant and there's usually plenty of seating.
Why did I take away stars?
Food: most annoying was lack of (or inconsistent) tots option. The burgers are pretty good, but not 5-star.
Service: As I said, the staff are great, however, always check your bag if you do take out. In the last 5-6 times I've gone, at least 3 of them had missing items. Once was just the requested condiments, but other times were missing fries or tots. If you call, it goes to voice mail and there's no email option, so unless you live nearby, you're basically out of luck. They'll DEFINITELY try to make it right, but I'm not driving 20 minutes back to correct an order I didn't realize until I get home. Honestly, though, in the last 5 years, I'm seeing this in almost every restaurant we do take out from.
Atmosphere: really the only complaint is if there are a lot of people standing at the counter to order or pick up. I usually time it so I arrive and my food is waiting, so it's usually fine (Friday nights), but it's a small space and can be claustrophobic. there's nothing they can really do about it, but it can be tight.

None of this prevents me from returning nor seeking out an alternative.

Fine service and atmosphere but that was probably the worst burger ive ever had. Cooked to char, egg way over cooked, no seasoning, no cheese, no sauce. NOTHING. (And i ordered off the menu, no custom burger i got the snowplow). Literally just two beef patties and an egg… New employees ruined this place. Ate it anyways cuz my one burger was $13. On my way to mcdonalds to step up the quality of my lunch ?
