Lightning fast, even for a smashburger joint. The best handcut fries I've had by several miles. Unlimited free sauces. Eating at this spot made me regret every 5 star review I've given, because this one deserves its own tier.

The cashier was rude and also stated they won't accept $100 bills because of possible fakes.. when you can get pens to check if they're real right here in town, but instead of that they're turning down legal tender. Which is very inconvenient. The burger was okay at best, not worth the price in my opinion.

Stopped in today on our way home from picking up my kid from college for a quick meal. I ordered my burger incorrectly not stating I wanted a double. When I caught my error looking at the receipt, I went back before they started cooking our order and explained I meant to order a double and pay the small difference in cost. I was told it was an easy fix and I paid without realizing the cost. A single All American burger is $8.25 and a double is $9.15 but they charged me $4.40 extra for a burger patty. When I tried explaining it was a 75 cent difference between the cost of the single vs double they told me it didn't matter, they had to charge me for an individual burger patty costing me more. I didn't want to make a fuss bc the guy who was telling me this seemed like he wanted nothing to do with anything. I dont understand why he wouldnt offer to refund me the single and charge me again for the double? What should have been a $9.15 burger cost me $12.65 (minus tax). I understand my error in not giving my order correctly, but charging $4 extra for a burger patty is crazy! 3 stars bc while the service was lacking the food was good.

Girl at the register was super rude and condescending. They got rid of the tater tots where were literally the only reason to go here. The burgers always give me a stomach ache but would get the chicken tenders but those greasy limp fries aren't even worth ordering and the prices here are like 5 guys with worse quality and rude cashiers.

Thought about placing an order we used to love the food here but the prices to eat for a family of 4, guess a treat is not gonna happen especially when three of our favorite items are completely off the menu. Used to love the tater tots and gravy and the fries and gravy - gone. And there was a burger that we see is no longer or out of stock that was my husbands go to….
What an absolute breath of fresh air Vermont is - no chains and everything independent and unique. Buddy’s is no exception - a straight up burger joint serving tasty fries, shakes and burgers. I got a double Vermonter and the maple bacon sauce is top notch. It’s no wonder it’s the only burger place around - no one else can compete!

If you're in Montpelier and you're looking for a burger...well Buddy's is your place!!! One of the best burgers I've ever had! The meat is flavorful, the bun perfect and you choose your toppings! Be sure to get pickles...they are especially tasty! French fries are yummy. Also, the best chocolate shake I've ever had! This is a must stop!! Enjoy!!!

Buddy's makes arguably the best burger in Vermont. Lots of options to choose from, including an out-of-this-world veggie burger. Service is insanely fast considering how busy they are. Nice vibe all around, with lots of indoor and some limited outdoor seating.
