Northwoods Cafe & Pizza Pizza •
5356 Ethan Allen Hwy, New Haven

“Popular for a quick lunch, however they can be very busy, even with a DD next door. Pizzas taste and are priced good, but are a little thin. Still very popular. Sandwiches and subs are nothing special, but why reinvent the wheel? They are good as well.“

“From the moment you step into The Tillerman you're whisked away on an unparalleled gastronomic journey that marries local flavors with world-class culinary craftsmanship. This establishment isn't just a restaurant; it's a celebration of fine dining and a testament to the magic that happens when passion meets plate.Let's start with the libations. The Musar Jeune Rouge wine, a standout on their meticulously curated wine list, is a revelation. This wine, with its vibrant notes and impeccable balance, pairs beautifully with every dish, enhancing flavors and elevating the dining experience. The local Vermont IPAs on offer are a hop lover's dream, showcasing the best of the region's craft beer scene with their bold flavors and innovative brewing techniques. Now, onto the culinary delights. The Diver Scallop Crudo with Meyer Lemon is a dish that stands out for its simplicity and elegance. The freshness of the scallops, paired with the subtle acidity of the Meyer lemon, creates a symphony of flavors that dance on the palate, offering a refreshing start to the meal. The Oak Leaf Lettuce Caesar Salad is another triumph. It reinvents a classic with its fresh, local oak leaf lettuce, creamy dressing, and a generous sprinkle of Parmesan, making it a dish that's both familiar and excitingly new.The wood-fired pizzas are a journey to the heart of rustic, artisanal cooking. The smoky flavors from the wood fire, combined with fresh, local toppings, result in pizzas that are a cut above the rest. Each bite is a blend of crispy, chewy, and melty perfection. And let's not forget the desserts. The Tillerman excels here too, offering exquisite desserts that strike the perfect balance between indulgence and elegance. Not too sweet, each dessert is crafted to be a fitting finale to the meal, leaving you satisfied yet yearning for more. The Tillerman isn't just renowned for its culinary delights; it's the warmth and hospitality of the staff that truly sets it apart. From the moment you're greeted at the door to the last farewell, the friendly, inviting, and personable team ensures your experience is nothing short of exceptional. Their genuine smiles, attentive service, and keen eye for detail make you feel not just like a guest, but like a part of The Tillerman family. This atmosphere of warmth and coziness transforms a simple meal into a cherished gathering, making every visit a memorable one.Adding to the unforgettable ambiance is the inspiring music that gently fills the space, complementing the dining experience to perfection. The carefully selected playlist sets a mood that's both uplifting and relaxing. This harmonious backdrop enhances the sensory delight of the meal, weaving together taste, scent, and sound into a symphony that delights the soul. It's this thoughtful touch that turns a visit to The Tillerman into an escape from the ordinary, inviting you to linger a little longer in its enchanting embrace. In summary, The Tillerman isn't just a meal; it's an experience. “Every town should have a "go to" pizza place that's locally owned, great service and where you see folks you know. Cubbers is definitely this place for Bristol. The pizza's good, the staff friendly and helpful and the value for the money is spot on. Their pizzas are large, well covered with goodies and work well as dinner or as a morning snack. Wings, however, could use a bit more heat though I was appreciative of serving with bleu cheese rather than ranch. Stick with the classics.“

“Such a phenomenal spot for beers and lunch/dinner. Offering lots of indoor seating (and live music occasionally) and outdoor seating that’s dog friendly, the restaurant space itself is really nice. The service was great and most important the beers and food is amazing. Really great flavors all around and overall it was a solid value. The stars for me were the burger and hush puppy app but it was all so so good and there was nothing that I could fault. If you’re in Vergennes you really have to go here (this place is also great for family’s). I highly recommend this spot, it’s a gem!“

“When picking up my pizza last night, they discovered the kitchen had my order wrong. They offered to make me another one (it was ready within 10 mins) and offered me a beer while I waited. The young man who assisted me was excellent. Definitely will be back!!“

“A solid sports bar in rural Vermont. We arrived after the happy hour crowd had cleared out, so the vibe was mostly locals. We enjoyed prompt, friendly service and draft beer. The menu features the usual tavern fare plus a broad range of made-to-order pizzas and calzones. We settled on the Caesar salad and a pepperoni calzone. The salad was good and large - definitely a portion for two - and the calzone was excellent: a crispy crust stuffed with a hot, flavorful blend of ricotta and mozzarella and plenty of pepperonis. This is also an entree to share, although one person could put it away if you skip an appetizer. The marinara sauce for the calzone deserves its own paragraph. It must be homemade, as it’s just that good: tart without being sour, sweet (tomatoes are fruit, right?) without being sugary. We were enjoying it so much, we asked for a second terrine.Next time, I’ll try the burger, but that sauce is so good – you can’t go wrong with the pizzas.“

“I've ordered from this place a few times and unfortunately their pizza doesn't do it for me. However, I lived most of my life in NY and VT pizza just doesn't compare. I think Green Peppers' smaller pizzas taste much better. The finger foods are pretty good and good prices. I got a small pizza, mozz sticks and fries for $20 even!I wish they would reopen dine-in though. I never lived here pre COVID and I've heard they used to be open later with a great dine-in experience. Wish I could know for myself! Still a good place and convenient location.Wheelchair accessibility: There is a wheel chair ramp leading to a few entrances of the store fronts, including this restaurant“
