Service is excellent. Food is good, but having miso soup toward the end is pretty strange. I thought it should be at the beginning of the omakase course. Overall, we have great experience at this place. I think having a piece of paper to explain dishes would be better.
We did omakase for both of us. Food was decent but a lot of fish was marinated/aged. I prefer more fresh fish but I know that it's difficult to execute in the states. The staffs were probably the best part of the experience. Everyone was so friendly, helpful and polite. Portion was quite large and we were satisfied at the end. Just expect that sushi experience in the states are not gonna be the same as in Asia, and you should have a decent experience in Takai.
My husband and I love coming here for date night. The sushi is delicious and the staff are incredibly friendly.
For my fellow celiac / gluten sensitive friends - they are incredibly accommodating to gluten free needs. Their soy sauce also is gluten free.
We did their omakase experience, and there was only 1 dish they didn't have an alternative to. Everything else was amazing!
