Omokase with Nakano-san is a truly special experience. Knowledgeable and personable, he serves a variety of tasty nigiri to delight your palate. Sit at the sushi bar for a memorable evening. When Nakano-san chooses, you try fish you might not have chosen yourself. A fun night for sushi lovers! If you can't get a seat at the bar, order a variety for the table. Staff are there to help you choose something special. Photos are from a March 2024 visit. Notice the variety of old standards and seasonal fish. Enjoy!

Such a fantasy experience. Celebrating a friend’s birthday and we reserved a private heated igloo outside. The food was so very good and the service was fantastic as well!Parking: Parking around just has to go around the block a few times. Not at all a negative for me as this restaurant is in a downtown hub.

Sankai rates as one of Seattle's best restaurants for good reasons. The customer service is top notch, the menu choices are extraordinary, and the food is exemplary. My spouse is a vegetarian. She raved and smiled the whole time while enjoying the Green Roll. For me, the Sankai roll and selections of off-menu Nigiri prepared sushi were so fresh, as well as, distinctive. Having been to very good restaurants in Japan, Sankai represents those restaurants so very well!

Excellent as usual. Thank you chef Nakano for a delicious meal. If you haven't been to this restaurant I suggest you go asap, you'll enjoy the delicious food and attentive service in a very comfortable setting. Can't wait to go back.

It's been a while since we been to San Kai. It still doesn't disappoint. The only difference is that we sat at the bar this time since there was a opening. I try to sit at the sushi bar if possible as I feel provides a much different, more personal experience than sitting at a table. This didn't disappoint as Nakano San was super friendly and attentive. The food and service were also still excellent as always.

We went to Sankai with fond memories of a time we visited pre-pandemic. It's just not what it was. We had a variety of small plates, one omakaze set and loads of rolls. The quality was not at the level we expected-of the rolls ordered, rainbow roll was a tasty standout.

SanKai came highly recommended as the premier sushi restaraunt on the Edmons Waterfront area. I think it average at best to be frank.A nigiri, as we've learned from Jiro, is about the rice just as much as the fish it's holding. SanKai's rice is a little more on the mushy side and you can't feel the rice. The fish - the very important aspect of the fish, needs to be prepared expertly. I don't know how to do it, but I expect the sushi chef to be able to do this. I ordered the omakase, and there's a fishbone on one of the white fishes. It was unexpected. It's a very crowded restaurant. The atmosphere, isn't that of a date night scene. You're not quite elbow to elbow with the next table over, but they cram people in pretty tight. Gotta make money, right? The service - one lady is exceptional, maybe she is the boss! The other didn't seem to want to be there. All in all, it's not that different than my local next door sushi restaurant.

The quality of the food is top level and the service was very attentive. The restaurant is very small and has less than a dozen tables indoors plus bar seating, plus a few "bubble" enclosed outdoor tables. There were many piles of supplies on the end of the bar (for takeout?) which was unattractive and took away from the overall look. We enjoyed the exceptional nigiri!

As we looked for Sushi restaurants to take our great niece (from Colorado) to we wanted present her with an extraordinary sushi restaurant experience. We had visited “I Love Sushi” in Bellevue. Yet, the restaurant has been temporarily closed. Our research led us Sankai. The staff were friendly and helpful, and took pride in their presentation and quality of food. Between three persons we experienced the 14 pc Nigiri plate, Green and Veggie rolls, California roll, edamame and Brussel Sprouts. We found the food and service to be, simply, extraordinary!
