Koharu Japanese Restaurant

Amazingly generous place. Great service regardless of dine in or take out. They took care of our order to go and blessed us with miso soup that we didn't order. Very giving restaurant. Recommend them highly. I've never had a bad meal from them. Golden Gate is one of my favorites.

We love this place. We used to go every Friday before we moved. The food is so fresh, they offer complementary soup or salad. The spider roll and spicy tuna are the best we’ve had in this area.

I’ve been eating at Koharu for over 25 years. Owners changed a few years ago and this review is for my recent visit and probably last time eating there. Since new owners took over the quality isn’t the same. I guess food was good enough but always feeling like it just just good enough. Service was fine so probably ate at least 10 times since ownership change. This last time though I went with the wife and we both got the bento. First, the server took our food to a different table and they all looked confused while I tried to tell the server I think that’s for us. Next, I commented to my wife that the salmon and tuna smelled too fishy. I never had salmon cut so oddly with white parts of the skin all around. Then when I had the tuna, I was chewing on rubbery fibers. I said to my wife either they have a new chef or they are using cheap parts of the fish. She wasn’t as critical. What changed was 35 minutes later after we left, we both had diarrhea and even she said she didn’t ever want to go back. And this was her favorite local sushi restaurant. I never call back to the restaurant for anything but since we do go there from time to time, I called them to at least tell them we both go sick. The same guy that served us the food awkwardly said… uhhh sorry. Me to… we won’t ever come back.

We ordered a togo meals from Koharu. It’s yummy

The sushi was on a whole other level. I don't think I have had sushi this good for about a decade. The sushi was presented beautifully and you could taste the freshness. Not to mention the Tempura, katsu, and gyozas were exemplary. While it is a bit more expensive than many other sushi places the price difference is well worth it. The portions were great as well, especially with the bento boxes. Tea was a little weak but I like my tea stronger than most. Overall one of my new favorite restaurants.

Amazing Sushi Spot in Federal Way!??Not only are the sushi, rolls, and poke bowls delicious, but the service is also fantasitc! From the moment you walk in, the staff makes you feel welcome and taken care of. Highly recommended for sushi lovers! ?

This is my favorite Japanese restaurant and all of the Seattle metro area. The food is outstanding. The service is everything that you would expect from a good Japanese restaurant which is just excellent. And the staff are all just the coolest Japanese people! The sushi is super fresh and delicious. Forget going to the chain sushi places, cuz of this place is the best! I've had the bento boxes, and it's more food than you can stand and just extremely tasty. My father-in-law loves the shrimp tempura dish. He gets it every time we go there. Both my wife and son love this place... Anytime I ask if they want to go someplace for lunch Koharu is always the top choice lol!

Vegetarian options: One of my favorite things on the sushi menu here is the cucumber roll, and the tamago is unbelievably sweet and tasty. Great veggie options

Parking: The lot is kind of small and not the easiest to get into, but there's plenty of parking every time I go there for lunch.

Kid-friendliness: This is a super kid friendly place, my son is 11 and he just adores the food there and and the staff is always super respectful to him. I wish our cultural learned more from Japanese culture regarding kids.

Wheelchair accessibility: There is a wheelchair ramp at the south end of the sidewalk in front of the building.

I called in an order for salmon nigiri, scallop nigiri and a Negi Hama (yellowtail) roll. I found bones in the salon nigiri and they had left skin on the flesh which had an off taste, just more fishy - but not clean like you would expect. The roll was just ok, too much rice and the fish was not flavorful at all. Service was ok, nothing to shout about. Won’t be back, there are plenty of other options nearby and a couple excellent locations in Auburn.

The chefs have changed, I have been going to this restaurant so many years.But now it's not the same. And the hostess says they haven't changed.But it is clear that they have changed.It was the best restaurant before .
