The seasonal peach pastry brought me here to rave. Its got very thin and crackling laminated layers which were still perfectly crisp, the peaches were so ripe and fresh, and the pistachios on top, roasted and chopped for a great textural contrast to the cool dense pale green custard. That pistachio custard! Soft and smooth, yet didnt unload off the pastry. As a baker, I know this is a feat. To have the buttery crisp next to the creamy and the raw fresh peaches holding their flavor...
In the likelihood that many people experienced what I just found out and aren’t aware of, here is a PSA: First Son’s tasting menu/dinner service has been closed for the summer and until further notice for reasons unknown. I’ve been recommending this restaurant to all my friends and guests and even tried to book a reservation for myself but to no avail. Absolutely delish. Beautifully crafted, light and just the right amount of sweet. If you are fortunate to get in, I’d recommend putting First Son on your list of places to stop by.
