“Spent all day hiking in N. Cascades NP and was famished but as we drove out to the VERY RURAL East on our way to Winthrop for the night, THIS PLACE WAS AN OASIS. As the sun set we sat outside, got two delicious pizzas and had two wonderful Polish beers you won't get elsewhere selected from a great selection of Polish beers imported by this Polish American family who runs the pizza parlor. They were the sweetest too as we were the last customers that night but we weren't rushed at all. All around perfect.”
“Coming through with my husband we thought "It's always a nice surprise when a community you like has a new place." Mazama is one of those places, but until recently, there has been nothing there after the Mazama Store closes for the day. This is no longer the case. The Mazama Public House is a modern building with lots of light and an open feeling. Three tall glass garage doors can open when the weather allows, removing the boundary between outside and inside. On the inside, lots of light wood gives a warm feeling, and the ceiling is made to reduce the echoing in the room. It seems to work. They have live music performances and people can still have conversations. The Public House is run by Old Schoolhouse Brewery, a company that also has a presence in Winthrop and Twisp. The staff is always friendly and helpful and we feel very welcomed every visit. There soft pretzels are good snacks and the homemade mustard, yeah, keep that around! I've enjoyed trying their non-IPA beers on tap. It's pretty much a regular stop when we have time driving on the 20.”
