We came here for lunch after visiting Gene Coulon Memorial Beach Park with our 3-year-old daughter, and it was a great casual family stop.

I had the prawns and fries, which were delicious, and our daughter loved them too. My wife and mother-in-law split the chicken and fries, which worked well since they are not as into seafood. The portions were a good size for lunch, and the prices felt reasonable.

The setting here is genuinely hard to fault. Sitting right on Lake Washington, the atmosphere alone makes it worth a stop. That part delivered.

The food, though, is another matter. The clam chowder was thin and watery, which for a seafood bar is a bit of a basic miss. The fish came across as little more than upscale Gordon's fish sticks, which is not what you're hoping for at an Ivar's. Somewhat disappointing for what the menu suggests.

Awesome place to eat! The cutie pie cashier was running that place like nobody's business. With efficiency and smiles. Wish I remembered her name. Ivar's recruits good people and it continues to be a place that can give one a little bit of that good ol days feeling. The quality of their product hasn't wavered in these tough times.
