Disappointment is an understatement! As soon as we walked in, it was just negative from the start. The hostess gave us a look like "Oh you have children with you". (the restaurant website doesn't say anything about not being kid friendly) My husband booked an early reservation at 5:30pm as we usually do at any restaurant, when bringing our two toddlers. We went to this restaurant for an early Mother's Day dinner on Friday. We always book early dinners, so we don't inconvenience any other guest. The restaurant was pretty empty. There were only two other tables taken. The hostess said something negative to my toddlers who were playing with their two cars in the table. At the point, I had enough of the negativity, so we kindly decided to just leave and not have dinner anymore. We are foodies and have eaten at many restaurants including Michelin restaurants with our children and haven't been treated this poorly. I have never felt discriminated so badly as we did here for bringing our toddlers.

It was a fun date with the hubby. Nice ambiance, fun to order, and beautiful presentation, but that's about it. None of the food was memorable. With so many other good places to tantalize your taste buds I would be hard pressed to come back.

What a great unique carnívoros experience for special aged prepared steaks and other meats. Service was attentive , knowledgeable and accommodating. Very casual atmosphere. Ordered a 149 day aged porterhouse. Once selections of meats are gone they are marked off the menu. Porterhouse was Cooked medium rare , of course. Meat was perfect seasoning and prepared. Lots of options allow for marrow, beef fat and unique bovine flavors added to sauces, toppings or ie beef fat French fries! I would come back just to eat the fries! Once a quarter...heh! Overall, glad I experienced. I'm a FaN!!!

Food was decent but not what I was expecting from the reputation of this place. Uneven and not very interesting. Salad a salt bomb and not the freshest. My onglet had a nice beefy taste, but under salted. I don’t usually care about service, but it was especially bad with multiple tables around me commenting. My server was perfectly nice, but it just wasn’t a warm or comfortable experience. My drink and water were empty and first course finished for about 10-15 mins before anyone noticed. One server came and offered a menu, then another came and took a drink order. The first server returned with the menu and when I explained and apologized(!) that I had just put an order in, she scoffed and walked away without a word. It feels tired and past its prime. My least favorite meal among many great ones during a Seattle visit.

This is a bummer bc I've been a fan of Bateau and have been several times over the last couple of years. I let it slide a couple of times when the steak was crazy rare (ordered medium rare)- on one of those occasions, the waitress was clearly ready to end her shift and hand us off and could not care less about our $400+ meal not being up to par (though I suppose it was on us for not flat out asking her to take the food back. This Tuesday was the last straw. See "bread pudding" review below- I took that pic after digging into the pudding but my buddy unfortunately was the one that chewed on actual human bandaid. I thought the manager showed some level of integrity and empathy in how she handled it on the spot and comped us while apologizing profusely. She had her suspicions as to who it was prepping the food with a bandaid on, but as I understand it, that wasn't the story from the person that called to follow up and apologize. It's just an unfortunate situation but I hope they'll learn and improve from this.

I went 4/16/24 and found a medical band aid in the bread pudding. It was terrible and had to do blood tests the next day just to be safe. Unfortunately, the restaurant couldn't pinpoint the person responsible. The staff took my number and let me leave without paying. They followed up with me next day asking how I was doing and that they contacted the health department. I'm leaving this review because this should never happen. I hope the restaurant finds a way to ensure that.

What a monumental waste of $500.My partner and I expected a night of culinary delight at this highly touted steakhouse, but what we got was a train wreck on a plate. The evening's lowlight was a bizarre hot dog tartine, which bore an unsettling resemblance to a urinal cake in both appearance and, distressingly, in taste. As if that wasn't off-putting enough, the main event - two steak selections- proved to be a rubbery, flavorless disappointment. Each chew felt like a tiresome battle with a bland piece of leather, leaving us bewildered and regretful. From start to finish, the experience was an overpriced ordeal lacking any semblance of the luxury or culinary craftsmanship one would expect at such an exorbitant price point. This steakhouse not only failed to deliver on its promises but also managed to turn what should have been an amazing dining experience into a memorable fiasco. After sharing our concerns with the floor manager we received a 5% discount and an eyeroll. We won't be returning.

Food was unfortunate. We had the tasting menu to get a feel for the restaurant. The steak was chewy and tough. The hot dog tartine tasted the pee and the barley risotto was bland and extremely granny. The service was not bad but not in alignment with a $500 dinner. Over all a bad experience and an uncomfortable dinner. We were unable to finish any of the dishes we tried.

I have sensory issues and they accommodated my needs, which is a huge deal. We got put in an area that was a little more private and I appreciate them taking the time to do that. Food was excellent and well thought out, steaks were cooked to perfection, and wine choices were superb. We went for my mothers birthday and they gave her a small candle and a hand written card. Staff wished her happy birthday and were nothing but kind, knowledgeable, and attentive. There were so many thoughtful touches to our meal it made the night truly special. This is hands down the best restaurants in Seattle.

We dined here with our kids and it was an amazing evening. The food was great, the chef made accommodations for my wife’s allergies, servers were top notch and the subtle music playlist elevated the evening. Thanks for a wonderful dinner.

Delicious food, amazing service, steak are yummy, so are all other things, especially dessert (we got 2 donuts and plum sorbet). A delightful meal. I’d suggest making reservations in advance. They also have a tasting menu for $125 pp, might check that out for future.

Great food and decent service. Lively ambiance, so be ready to talk over others. If you're not a red meat consumer, absolutely avoid this place.
