I work downtown, and often come to this coffee shop, I have purchased items before but don't make a purchase everytime I come in.. I asked the barista did I need to be a customer to sit in the space I was told no. then once I arrived and did this regularly again I would purchase items but not everytime I come in.. I often used it as a safe space to come sit before I go into work. the barista there with orange hair and glasses he was very rude to me and instead of pulling me to the side to explain this to me.. even after I literally asked him! was very unprofessional and just flat out rude.. you dont know someones situation I just recently got my new job and was waiting for my check as well. more compassion and understanding would go a long way.. the times I did come in and purchase both food and coffee it came up to almost 20 dollars and it wasn't even good!! which is why I didn't purchase items everytime as they just weren't to my taste buds liking again however I liked the atmosphere or so I thought.. , for someone who doesn't have much and was waiting for there check t to pay 20 dollars each time for a coffee and a breakfast sandwich that's a lot.. but I like the establishment and felt safe there so kept coming back. I also was going to purchase an iced coffee the other day when I was there but barely opened up my laptop and got situated to even decide what I wanted before the barista came over being very rude and loudly saying I needed to actually purchase something.. as if I didn't already make two separate purchases .. again was not only unprofessional and rude but also humiliating to have someone publicly humiliate you in front of everyone in the coffee shop, instead of pulling me aside was just not Kind.. Do better! you don't know what someone is going through!!!!

I usually like Caffe Umbria, but the past two experiences here have left a bad taste in my mouth. Both orders were mediocre, and the staff were unfriendly.

My most recent experience was pretty awful from ordering my drink to taking my first sip. The man who took my order was aloof (which was fine) until he took his time taking a picture of my iced pistachio latte while I was waiting. It was not just one photo but multiple photos. He took pictures of it without ice and with ice. I understand the drink is pretty, but I find it odd taking the time to take pictures while customers are waiting for their drinks. When I received my latte, he was uncomfortably rude to the point that I can’t get this experience out of my head so I am writing this review at 4 in the morning. Also as you can tell, I prefer writing positive reviews of businesses…

On a final note, the pistachio latte was terribly sweet.

Poor selection of food for breakfast; not many sandwich types and no fruit. Ordered a sandwich which they overheated so it stuck to the grill and was ruined = no breakfast

We've been coming here for over a decade, it's our favorite café in Seattle. (We live in Virginia) The employees are unfailingly wonderful, the coffee is some of the best in a town known for coffee (they serve carbonated water with espresso), and it's just a lovely place to chill while sitting outside watching people walk by. There's a lot of choice for coffee in here, and this is definitely worth seeking out.

Fantastic service and terrible vibe. One tourist tried to take my coffee and another one acted like he owned the bar. Definitely get to-go.

Just wanna give the BIGGEST shoutout to Mike. We visited this location a few weeks back and needless to say, it's now become our FAVORITE Umbria - all thanks to Mike. His demeanor, humor, and above all else, sincere hospitality made for an unforgettable experience. We're now gonna exclusively buy coffee from Mike.

I almost never put bad reviews about places, because in reality people always try to do their job and be nice to the people who visit us, but this time I had a previous review about this place three years ago and I had visited it again on a couple of occasions, this last time, my family came to visit and I recommended this great place to go and enjoy a coffee, the ugliest surprise was when I found a staff who attends the coffee service, with a very bad attitude, full of negativity and above all bad service, I want to tell a little about what happened in this place since I consider it an act of discrimination and extreme use of rudeness by the staff, the only thing that was being taken were photographs like the ones I normally upload to all the places to recommend the space so that people can see how charming the interior can be and above all the atmosphere that is lived there, that is very normal, in addition, the photographs were being taken with my personal phone, with a very negative and rude attitude, a woman who attended the coffee bar, asked us to delete the pictures we had taken, because he didn't want to be in them and that he wasn't going to give us our coffee until we deleted them. He had the coffee in his hand, just stopping and blocking us from taking it until we deleted the picture from our phone and showed him, I think that attitude and that negative experience we had there leaves us with a thought, something sad about a place that was one of our favorites, and above all I start to wonder if the owners of this place have hired people who like to serve people, they may have it is an area frequented by many tourists, and more in these dates that begin large-scale sporting events, and that people from all over the world visit, having such a negative attitude and being so rude with the service and above all discriminating with words and with actions like what did not happen, I think it is not something worthy of a city as friendly as Seattle, with respect to this bad moment that we are living, I will put the photograph of the person who did this act and in no way was a photograph being taken of her, the place was being portrayed and m and More than anything, the atmosphere inside the cafe. I reiterate that it was one of my favorite cafes in the Seattle area, and today it's thanks to this experience. I want everyone who goes and visits to do so with great caution and not expect too much friendliness from the staff. It was a very bad experience at this place; I don't recommend it at all in its summer 2025 season.

Dont go here if you expect to have a conversation with a friend or show something on your PC. Staff is way too uptight about maintaining absolute silence like a library in there. How about put a sign on the door? No talking!! No computer use!! No laughing! coughing, or even tapping your foot!!
