This cafe has been on my mind a LOT recently. They have everything I look for in a shop: top tier coffee options, fun drink creations, a good amount of seating to chose from, and food that is far from basic. I ordered an espresso roasted by Tim Wendelboe which was perfectly extracted, the egg and cheese sandwich that had a strawberry chili jam and pickled veggies which I couldn't get enough of, and a rose cookie that paired perfectly with the espresso. The shop has a lot of color and personality, and great retail options like wine, bitters, chai, and when I visited amazing coffee options from La Cabra, Loveless Coffee, Tim Wendelboe and Kuma coffee. On top of everything, the service was amazing. Planning on coming back again soon!

Honestly, this might be my most favorite coffee shop in all of Seattle (and I'm very picky).
Staff is AMAZING. They are kind, funny and accommodating. Their prices are reasonable for the quality of coffee they provide. The cup of coffee was super smooth. They use single origin, homemade syrups and baked goods.
Totally recommend them!

Another amazing place in Ballard that has very good German baked goods. Their brötchen (rolls) are phenomenal, they taste as good as a real German one from a bakery. Price is quite steep (2.50$) compared to a German one (70¢ 😂) but totally worth it! They serve it with herbed butter and jam which is an unusual mix but it tastes great! Their Streuselkuchen is a huge hit as well! I love the idea of fusing German and Chinese cuisine and love the Shiso N/A cocktail that they serve! When the place is full on weekends the acoustics are horrible, it gets so loud, but nevertheless it’s a wonderful
little café. They also have a couple of outdoor seats and bike parking and it’s perfect for people watching!
Kid-friendliness: The front patio is at least 20ft away from the street in a small enclosure with planters and bike parking, quite nice for kids to not be too close to traffic. No kids corner or anything like that though.
Wheelchair accessibility: All even leveled, no ramps. Line-up space is not ADA-compliant as they put a rope in front of the counter to help with traffic flow and it’s not wide enough for a wheelchair to navigate but if they would remove that then the counter and the rest of the café are accessible. I haven’t been to their bathrooms, not sure about them.

Love this gorgeous little spot in Ballard. It's my go-to for perfectly brewed tea and a delicious treat that's unlike anything else in town. The streuselkuchen is sublime and the brick toast totally blew my mind. I could eat the skyr bowl every day. It's worth it to hang out and enjoy - love the decor, the owners and staff are so genuine and sweet, and I can always find parking nearby. Highly recommend!

Had a wonderful experience at Cardoon. We arrived to be greeted warmly by the staff and given a few minutes to look over the menu as well as an opportunity ask questions. This all set a wonderful tone for an amazing experience.
We had a delicious Egg and Cheese sandwich, Yuzu Espresso Tonic and Streuselkuchen w/pluotes. Sandwich was on a warm and fresh black sesame bun, with just enough sweetness to balance the egg and gouda cheese. Crumbly and soft streusel and well balanced Espresso tonic. Would absolutely come back and recommend.

My friend and I came here for breakfast on a Sunday and had the most wonderful time! The baristas were so sweet and everything was delicious. I had the sea weed latte, tomato “egg” rice, and strueselkuchen. My friend got the Shanghai fog and bratwurst & brot. I loved the curry-like flavors and the texture of the bean curd in the tomato rice. The struesel was also to die for. A perfect blend of sweet, sour, and a little salty. And it was so moist on the inside but crumbly on top. The Shanghai fog was nice but not really my thing, it’s definitely a more subtle flavor. I’ll be thinking about the sea weed latte for weeks though. It has such a nice caramelized umami flavor. The bench and bar seating is cozy; I wish there were tables but the place is just too small for them. The only downside is that they didn’t have soy milk (they did have oat milk). Not sure if they were just out of it or if they don’t carry it.
