Pastries & eclairs were yummy and excellent service!
Used to love them when they were in Capitol Hill. Now prices are higher, taste not as good (still pretty good), and service was really mediocre (no greeting, hand gesture that there wouldn’t be any coffee anymore in the afternoon, no friendly exchange…)
Absolutely delicious sandwich!! Will definitely be returning soon.
Great service and atmosphere! The cashier / waitress was very nice and accommodating. The egg sandwich with bacon was to die for.
We were huge fans when crumble and flake was in Capitol Hill. today we finally were able to visit the new location since they moved, but feel extremely disappointed with the croissants and pain au chocolat. they don’t taste fresh, not flaky at all, the surface looks very collapsed, the amount of layers decrease significantly compared to before. To say it was average was an overstatement.
We drove a long way there to find the taste that we’ve been missing but felt so letdown. I hope whatever is going on that makes the quality of the pastries change will be fixed. we would love to visit again once they are ready to bring back the flawless croissant they used to serve at Capitol Hill.

I've loved this place since they were in Cap Hill and I'm so excited they moved out to the Eastside! Their kouign-amann is my favorite, especially the black sesame, but their croissants and cream puffs are amazing and the quiche is to die for. I used to live next door to their old location and since I moved I've been on a hunt for a similar quality croissant on the Eastside, and there isn't anything like it. I love that it's family owned and it's obvious how much passion they have for the quality of their food. Try the quiche too, it's my f
Vegetarian options: Most of their pastries are vegetarian, and the foods that contain meat are labeled. No vegan options, everything has butter.

Food was great. I suggest the pecan pie or a cream puff.

I loved Crumble and Flake in Seattle when I could get over to that side of the water, so them being in Issaquah now is a welcome move. Before the move, their Kouign Amann’s were superb, and well worth the drive over the bridge.
Now, they have no laminated dough pastries at all. No Kouign Amann, no croissants. I’m not quite sure it can be called a patisserie without these basic items. From what I’ve been told it is a staffing issue, but it is also confusing to me not to have core items in the bakery case.
I’d sincerely love to change my review to all 5’s and return to eating too many pastries from Crumble and Flake, but for now if you are looking for some of those past items that made them so good, it’s best to wait until it’s figured out.

Cute little place with a nice deck for outdoor seating. Tried lavender roasted and shallots goat cheese basque and it was quite tasty, although there was no hint of lavender. My biggest complaint is about the service. The cashier was quite grumpy.

Best cream puff I have EVER had. Breakfast sandwich was also delicious, generous size, and filling.

I've been looking forward to trying this spot since I first heard they were moving from Capitol Hill in Seattle. I wanted to give them some time to get their food and business model evened out, to make sure they would be at their best. Sadly, I was disappointed in the entire experience.
The pastry case was smaller than expected, with fewer classical French offerings than I expected. I saw no croissants (plain or otherwise), no elevated tarts, etc., that would signal (to my untrained eye) a good French patisserie. I did spot a couple of Gateau Basque offerings that looked interesting.
We were there at lunch. There were only two menu items that looked like options for a vegetarian. One was a plain-looking veggie sandwich, the other a "double-decker grilled cheese" with tomato and mustard, which I selected. My dining companion ordered the tuna melt. We sat in the back room because it was a bit quieter than the noisy main dining area.
The food arrived. What had looked like a fun, ample sandwich was unimpressive and small. It was "double decker" because there were three layers of bread, but that bread was very thin. The small sandwich was cut and stacked to add more "decks," I assume, but that made gave it an even smaller footprint. It was accompanied by a tiny ramekin with two tiny cornichons, plus a small bag of Tim's potato chips. In a cafe with french influences, the chips seemed like a throwaway side, something you could get in any ordinary place. The grilled cheese sandwich wasn't warmed throughout; there was no melty, gooey cheese in the middle. The outsides weren't browned, crispy, and buttery as one would expect in a grilled cheese. The taste of the cheese was just okay. My dining companion was likewise unimpressed with the tuna melt.
The back room was quiet, yes, but also had some issues. There were ants marching along the windowsill. The staff obviously knew about them, as there was an ant bait further down the windowsill; none of this was appetizing to view while eating. There were also some gnats/fruit flies flitting around the area.
We saw the chef but didn't get to chat with her, which is a shame. In a new business, I'd hope that the chef/owner would be more interactive and welcoming to customers.
One added note is that four others from my neighborhood ate there the next day. They ordered things more typically french, like a Croque Monsieur. They also tried pastries. I think they ate outside on the deck. This group came away with a very different take, saying they really liked the food. If I return--which I initially told myself I wouldn't--I will try pastries instead, and perhaps will have a more pleasant and positive experience.
EDIT: I went there again with a friend. We sat in the main dining area. The chef was at the register because they were shorthanded; it was good to see her interacting with customers. The veggie sandwich was better than the one I had on my previous visit. But this visit didn't convince me that I'd want to return regularly.
Vegetarian options: I saw only two sandwiches, a plain-looking veggie one and the grilled cheese that I ordered (and reviewed above). Pastries are of course an option.

Crumble & Flake Café Pâtisserie has so much potential to be a fantastic option for those looking for a cozy coffee spot in Issaquah, especially as an overflow from Issaquah Coffee Company. Its location is ideal, and the ambiance is pleasant enough for those seeking a quiet spot to for those looking to work or relax.
Unfortunately, it misses the mark in two key areas.
While the space is inviting, and the pastries are delicious:
1.) they DO NOT to provide Wi-Fi and
2.) ONLY offer drip coffee, which feels underwhelming compared to the variety most coffee lovers seek these days.

The cream puff is the most amazing thing here!!! I also tried the Passion Fruit Cake with Lychee Matcha Glaze, Pistachio Lemon Gateau Basque, Lavendar-Roasted Shallot and Goat Cheese Gateau Basque, Brown Sugar Blueberry Cake. I took my items to-go but there are places to sit inside and out.
Parking: Plenty of parking at Gilman Village
Kid-friendliness: Probably more of an adult-friendly location

Good pastries, just fair baguettes, but very unpleasant and unappreciative staff make what should be a pleasant experience a study in discourteous behavior. This staff at this place is neither warm nor welcoming. Try elsewhere.
