I love the concept and attention to cake. I’m a big cake guy. Had a slice at a party that had a custom cake made. What a disappointment. This entire fad of throwing cream cheese and marscapone on everything marketed as gourmet is tiresome. whatever happened to a nice italian merengue on a dominican cake, or heavy whipped frosting on a chantilly? I had to remove the majority of the frosting on the slice and the cake itself was dense and meh.
I'm not a good judge of what a great cake is, but I can tell you what an average or poor cake is. I had a slice of London Fog and it was quite good. It was nearly a meal in itself. Nicely moist and chilled. That was a plus! I drive by this place several times a month and was curious to try it. There's 1 other cake slice I'm curious to try. It has pudding in it. After that I'm probably done. Cake isn't really my thing, but if it's yours this is well...
we ordered 3 cake slices.
* dark chocolate salted caramel -- I feel like I missed the point here, as I could not taste any caramel. Just overwhelmingly chocolate (not a bad thing) with a finish of salt. There was plenty of brown goo, it just tasted more salt than caramel. Get it for the chocolate if you must but don't expect much from the caramel.
* lemon ricotta -- the best-tasting of the three, but extremely fragile and fell apart as we were picking it...
