We parked in the lot behind Lottie's Lounge across the street, in the corner of Ferdinand and 39th. $2/hr to park in that lot vs. unreliable street parking. The walk to Island Soul is half a block and two crosswalks.
I had the jerk chicken Caesar, a great salad with chicken breast strips cut long (Seattle teriyaki style cut, I mean) and smothered in the house jerk sauce.
My date had the shrimp ceviche salad in a sesame rice cracker bowl....

Stopped here last week with a friend after hearing amazing things about it. So glad that we tried it! We made it in during happy hour and so we tried several things. The cajum shrimp was delicious, so much so that my friend near drank the sauce up. The hushpuppies and corn muffin were also good, served with a sweeter butter. We ate here for our 32nd anniversary. They serve the best fried catfish and drinks! My husband shared his catfish due to my 2 shrimp dishes being too spicy; I usually like spicy food.
