Great food, broad Japanese food menu and saki options. Good flawless service. Tiny space plan for it. Also bring your Covid vaccine card or recent test.

We say goodbye to Seattle. Ending where we started! Delicious authentic Japanese cuisine (gobbled the soba and a few other treats before snapping a picture). Plus a stop for me next door to Hannyatou to say goodbye to my sake sensei, Ritsko!

Kamonegi is a small, authentic Japanese restaurant specializing in freshly made soba noodles, crafted daily. The menu offers a variety of soba options, including chilled, dipping, and hot varieties. Standout dishes include the Kamonegi Seiro, a duck dipping soba, and hot mushroom broth soba, both praised for their rich flavors. The dipping broth is noted as the best part of the soba, with the duck meatball having a nice bounce and peppery kick. Other popular options include the cream of morel mushroom and Kamo-Nanban dishes. Unique appetizers like crispy kabocha wings and tempura mochi with black sesame ice cream are also available, the latter being a must-order for many guests. The tempura features a variety of seasonal fried vegetables that are light, crispy, and aromatic. With lots of windows, Kamonegi has a cozy atmosphere tucked into a quiet street. The focus on quality and freshness makes it a great spot for those seeking authentic Japanese cuisine. Reservations are recommended due to its smaller size, especially for larger parties. While some reviews mention that the soba can have varying qualities, the service is consistently friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. It is worth noting that during the summer, the lack of A/C can make it quite warm, especially at window seats.
