Finally found a place in Seattle that serves Katsu like they best places in Hawaii! We had the cheese katsu with a side order of their curry sauce. The cheese katsu was incredible!! Although over the years the crust has gotten harder. Their curry sauce doesn't taste like any other curry so it's a special treat! If you're like me + love the sesame cabbage salad, they serve a good portion of it. Wished they would bring more sesame seeds to you to dip away but I guess you can't have everything.

This is my favorite katsu spot, the only place that I would compare to katsu you get in Japan. The menu is very customizable. The breading, crisp, and crunch is exactly what you want in a good katsu then you have the option of picking from different quality pork. Always busy but fast attentive service. It's always a good meal

I think this is the best katsu place in Seattle, I'm just a big fan of juicy cutlet (a good amount of options), and the side of miso soup and cabbage which can drizzle the dressing over. The interior is a little small so be prepared to wait in line. Then lastly for service, I think its normal for what it is in the restaurant just the usual take order, refill water etc.

This place is so good I've eaten here 3x in 2 Seattle trips. My favorite is the miso katsu with the Kurobuta cut - the meat is juicy, the katsu is light and crisp, and the flavors are savory and complex without being overwhelming and too rich. This is going to probably be a $30 meal, but it'll definitely fill you up between the katsu, salad, rice, and miso soup. The place has decent seating for smaller groups, but if you have a large group it might take a while as this place is poppin'. A weekday later lunch seemed to work best if you don't want to wait, but even on the weekends the lunch wait might take a bit, so either come early or come at the tail end. Paid street parking in the area (except free on Sundays). There's also other good spots in the area like a good bakery on the corner and a delicious hummus restaurant if you're feeling snacky or can't wait to eat.

Came back with my son. I like it. He thought so so. Not as great as last time. Food good overall. Service a little bit off. I gone on a Saturday a few weeks ago and it was busy but Sunday not as busy. Parking still not enough. We had to park again a few blocks away. One lady served us was somewhat lacking in her English ability. We asked about not alcohol drinks but she thought we were taking about allergies. I asked for large beer but she gave me a small one. At the end, it was hard to get someone to take our trays and get our bill while they were faster with others. They had ramune drink refrigerated, but they had coke and sprite on the shelve but not ready for customers, and they did not seem to know it was there. We had pork mince nabe, ebi curry rice, kani crab couqette, and tsukune.

Took a friend here because we are huge fans of Kobuta and Ookami! I've been to their Redmond location and wanted to check out the Capitol hill location. This location seems a bit smaller. We found street parking and got there a little later in the evening. For a party of 3, we had about a 30 minute wait which wasn't too bad. Service was friendly. The table we were seated at was a tad bit of a squeeze, but it was ok. I got the ume shiso katsu and it was delicious! Served with rice and cabbage salad, it made the perfect dinner! Overall huge fans of this restaurant because they seriously have the best katsu in Seattle!

Kobuta and Ookami is an absolute gem in the Seattle area. I've had the pleasure of dining here several times, and each visit has exceeded my expectations. Whether you're celebrating a special occasion or simply craving an extraordinary meal, Kobuta and Ookami never disappoints. It's a culinary haven that I wholeheartedly recommend to anyone seeking an unforgettable dining experience.

Kobuta and Ookami is a tonkatsu restaurant with some interesting options. For the poultry option they use jidori chicken. For the pork options you can select from the normal rosu tonkatsu, kurobota pork or Spanish iberico pork. I opted for the standard pork katsu to see how it compares to other tonkatsu restaurants before trying the kurobota or iberico pork. The preparation is typical of tonkatsu, tenderized and pounded to flatten a bit. Season and drip in flour, egg then panko. Everything was presented nicely and the service was great. It had all the normal accompaniments, sesame seeds to grind and combine with the tonkatsu sauce, mustard to kick it up if you like. Rice, miso soup, shredded cabbage and pickled vegetables. All in all a very good meal. It is not the best tonkatsu that I've ever had. It was very good and I would go again. It is a small restaurant and very popular. So go early, the fairly short wait is worth your time. I would recommend this restaurant.

I came here on a Friday night with 2 others and we waited about 15-20 minutes before getting seated. The interior of the restaurant is cute and spacious. We enjoyed the ambience. I ordered the Kurobata katsu curry set and my friends ordered the hire tomato & cheese katsu and hire katsudon. We also got a side of red pickles (extra charge) and matcha tiramisu to share. I thought my miso soup was very salty & the cabbage salad and sesame sauce was good. I paid extra for Kurobata pork but it tasted pretty similar to the hire. My curry was a little spicy but the flavor was whatever. There was a lot of rice and I wish it came with more meat. I'm surprised red pickles were extra because normally at katsu curry restaurants, they're just free sides. I think red pickles naturally go hand in hand with enhancing the flavors of your katsu curries. If we didn't order the side of red pickles, our food would have tasted worse. The matcha tiramisu had nice presentation & was very creamy, but I couldn't taste the matcha. It gave me a stomachache later. I wouldn't come here again. The dessert was ok-bad and the entrees left much more to be desired.

I absolutely loved the ambiance of Kobuta and Ookami, it's a lovely Japanese restaurant popular for its tonkatsu (deep fried pork cutlet). The shop was small and has limited seating, so the wait time was long (you can only make a reservation for parties of 6+). There was a piece of paper for people to write down their names, and you would receive a text when your table was ready. We waited approximately an hour before being seated, and this was half an hour after opening for dinner (5:30pm). The wait was SO worth it though! The waiters and waitresses were very attentive to our needs and constantly came around to refill our glasses. The food also came out fairly quickly, and the presentation of the dishes were so delicate. I enjoyed how our orders came out as meal sets - we had a side of rice and miso soup. We were also given a small mortar to grind sesame seeds and each table had its own bottle of sesame-style dressing and tonkatsu sauce. I loved how finely chopped the lettuce was, it added a nice element of freshness to our plates. I ordered the mozzarella katsu, and the cheese pull was insane! The tonkatsu was super crispy and the meat was fatty and tender. I would highly recommend giving this dish a try. Overall, I enjoyed my experience here and would love to come again!

Delicious! The food is excellent. Small menu with options of meat preference. I would make sure everyone in your party likes what's on the menu before dining because they just have the few things listed. But our party of 8 all enjoyed our food thoroughly. Service was great and the portions are large. Recommend reservations because their tables are booked and busy.

Food is average taste. Service is bad no one serves you and with more than an hour waiting every time.

What a great place, very delicious katsu. We got the radish one, comes with a ponzu sauce on the side. Flavorful and crispy. The iberian meat was very porky. And it comes with a little Spanish flag Very busy! Gotta come just a few before it opens, or you'll have to wait!

A very unique experience here. Our service was great. Everyone in your party has to be present to be seated and no additional people allowed after being seated. And they mean business. No exceptions. Lots of different ways to order the Katsu. Mozzarella Katsu - 5/5 - the thin layer of cheese around the pork was yummy. The outside was very crispy. The cabbage salad with the sesame dressing is delish. The presentation of the food was amazing. They even give your own pestal to grind your sesame.
