I had the hanger steak last night, and not only was it almost impossible to eat. It was almost impossible to cut. They sliced it with the grain instead of against the grain, and I don't know if that made a difference, but it was inedible and I left 95% of it on my plate. Definitely not what I expected. I recognized that hanger steaks can be a little on the tough side, but this was beyond tough. My dining partners had the salmon and they ate the majority of it so I assume it was just fine. Will I be back? Probably not unless I feel like having a burger.
Always a great time dining at Nicks. Menu is very appealing, food is DELICIOUS, service is spot on. A true neighborhood gem
The food is delicious and the owner and staff are very attentive. It's comfortable and has a fun vibe.
I wish I photographed some of the other appetizers because they were so yummy. I love their appetizer selection and trying everything. Lovely environment to dine in casually or for a fancier night out.

I had a friend recommend Nick. So I decided to meet a date there for dinner. Good thing we made a reservation. The place was passed. The food was great. The drinks were perfect. The ambience setting the noise level. Everything was lovely dimly lit beautiful holiday dinner. I thought it would be a good idea to return for lunch with my daughters in town for Christmas. And the experience was completely different. We didn't feel waited on , and I believe it was the owner and a female visitor who we're getting all of the attention. The food was not that great and we kept our coats on as we were seated next to the window and it was freezing the whole meal. Since I was given the opportunity for a review, I wanted to share. I will be back but not for lunch.
My wife and love Nick's. Whenever we have friends in town, it is the first place we take them.
This is a wonderful friendly neighborhood restaurant with very good food. Nick is an exceptional host, welcoming people and making certain everyone is happy. He is so accommodating with food allergies and he makes you feel so welcome. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Nick is super nice. The French dip was excellent. Chicken sandy was good but not great. Could've used some sauce, but the slaw was good. Fries are excellent.
My husband and I had dinner before a show. The positives are the warm welcome and great service. It was obvious that there were a lot of repeat customers dining. My caesar salad was made with bottled Italian dressing, an anchovy had never been invited. The added chicken was a bought pre-grilled breast reheated, dry. My husband had the hamburger that was also obviously bought as a frozen paddy and cooked, dry. We had one glass of wine and one beer, $80. Why people are raving about this restaurant is a mystery. It could be the cocktails. We noticed that everyone dining ordered the cocktails. It could be the warm welcome and service. I hated to post this about a neighborhood restaurant but the overwhelming 5 stars seemed deceptive.

The food is delicious but such a different experience between lunch and dinner. Menus are different and we were excited to try the dinner menu. We were seated at our reservation time of 7:00 p.m. on a Thursday. It was so loud we couldn't carry on a conversation, other clients were drinking and there to be seen and heard. We ordered an appetizer and 2 entrees. The table next to us was seated after we ordered yet they received food prior to us. Our appetizer never showed so we ate our entrees while they then prepared our compensated appetizer. The atmosphere killed it for us. If we decide to go back for dinner we would definitely insist on sitting in a small back area.
As usual it was a great experience from the moment my friend & I walked in the door. We were warmly greeted by the waitress who sat us & shortly thereafter by the owner himself, Nick. The waitress was very friendly & knowledgeable, she was attentive without hovering, then Nick would also greet every table in the restaurant himself, top notch customer service by the entire staff the whole time to go along with an incredible meal
Nick's on Madison is always a fun place to get a very good dinner at a reasonable price. The cocktails are well made and wine is reasonable priced. Nick is always at the restaurant and knows so many of the diners. A good date night or family dinner place.
The lunch menu was delicious and we look forward to going back to order from the dinner menu soon. Excellent service by the owner, Nick. A clean, bright and cheery restaurant, a full bar.
Customers are respectful of others and music is played low in the background
My favorite kind of dining!

Nick's my go spot where the atmosphere is warm and welcoming. Love the staples like their burger but also the rotating seasonal menu. Great cocktail and wine options but my fave is their espresso martini with the local cold brew. Not too sweet!
