Portage Bay now takes reservations, so it was a treat to walk in on a Sunday at 11:30 with the brunch crowd out in full force and be taken straight to our table. Service was a bit slow, but understandably so given the restaurant's volume. I made a mistake on my order and I could tell our server wasn't pleased (I got "ma'amed"), but he replaced my lunch without hesitation and I tipped heavily. My friend loved her Swedish pancakes and my eggs were delicious....

It was almost great.

-My side of roasted potatoes were cold. You ever have left over roasted potatoes and the skin is hella rough. It was like that.
-Got the farmers bowl or whatever you call it as well and something in it tasted spoiled. Gave my buddy the runs.
-My Banana Foster French Toast w the berry bar was fire though. Very good stuff.

Overall, the place has nice vibes but I don’t think I’ll be back...

Recently came here for breakfast with my mom. Great service and a cozy atmosphere. We were seated quickly and didn’t have to wait long for the food to be served. We ordered pancakes and an omelette to share. Absolutely love the berry bar feature that came with the pancake order. The house made whipped cream was delicious and we enjoyed all the fresh fruit options. The pancakes themselves left something to be desired, very thick and dry but that could just be personal...
