Absolutely fantastic! Worth the drive. Fresh, fast, friendly and a plethora of menu items to chose from. Would recommend over and over.
The food was good, but in the women’s restroom, as I was drying my hands after washing, an employee comes out of the stall and looks directly at me and leaves. Doesn’t wash her hands. Gross in general.
I go back to my party and notice that the same employee was the one setting up and prepping the tables. I don’t really want unwashed-after-using-the-bathroom hands touching my napkins, soy sauce, plates and table.
Also, I think there is a law that food employees have...read full review
We went to visit Sumo Japanese restaurant for the first time after church service. The food and the service were great. I highly recommend this restaurant and the robots service was a great touch.

Sumo Sushi & Grill AYCE – UW is a place where many people try the lunch all‑you‑can‑eat (AYCE) first to test the fish before a dinner AYCE that includes sashimi. Some visitors report that the rolls are packed with rice, the fish is thin and not fresh, and a few are too spicy and not well‑seasoned. Takoyaki is described as weird, tangy and too salty. The rice in most dishes is said to be too much, soggy, overly wet, and the sushi rice is “drenched.” Many customers feel the place tries to fill you up with rice instead of focusing on the ingredients. A server warns that uneaten food may result in a charge for food waste, so overordering is discouraged.
The service can be efficient; orders placed through the app may arrive in about ten minutes or less. The lunch menu offers a great value with a large variety, and the salad bar is a nice touch. Some diners note the seating is crowded, especially during busier periods, and the space is taken up by a huge cart that moves around the tables. The miso soup is described as cloudy water with no seaweed or tofu, and it even contains sugar. Sauces on many items are said to be sickly sweet.
Despite these issues, many reviewers recommend the place for its large pieces, good flavor and sauce, and overall good price. Some find the food quality better than revolving sushi, while others feel the menu is limited and seasonal. Overall, the experience is mixed, with positive comments about speed and variety, but criticism about rice quantity and food quality.
