Tamari Bar offers a cool atmosphere with super dank Dan Dan Ramen and delicious Dark Typhoon cocktails. The TORA GOZEN sampler is a perfect choice before a show at The Paramount. Located on a quieter street in Capital Hill, the restaurant provides great food and drink combo deals during reverse happy hour. The indoor and outdoor seating areas are both super cute, creating a cozy vibe enhanced by Miyazaki movies playing on the TV behind the bar. The staff is attentive and kind, ensuring guests have a good experience.
Popular dishes include the Dark Typhoon, which features squid ink infused rum, and Tako Wasabi, known for its freshness and affordable price during happy hour. The karaage is super nice, and the Ocean Salad is surprisingly fresh with lots of fish presented beautifully. The Tamari Bar Sushi Roll is so good that it’s often ordered twice. Nori Shio-fritz, seaweed French fries, are a tasty snack. The baos are flavorful and highly recommended, as is the curry. The wagyu on the stone is interesting, though not as tender as expected.
While seating can be a little crowded during busy times, the overall experience remains highly enjoyable. The service is fantastic, with staff handling disruptions from the street professionally and courteously. The sashimi didn’t taste as fresh, but the fried chicken and baos were excellent. The matcha crème brulee is a simple layered whipped cream dessert, and the ice cream cookie sandwich is a highlight. Tamari Bar is a highly recommended spot for great food, drinks, and a fun atmosphere, making it a nice place to come with friends and enjoy a variety of dishes family-style.
