We were 2 and ordered the 12 oysters for $43 and the black cod for $23. The food was really good but portions were quite small for the price. The server shared a lot of information on the plates but seemed like he wanted us to get the most expensive dishes only (a mix for 2 people for $175). Overall the place was charming but it felt overpriced and the 19% compulsory service charge on the meal felt like a rip off.
Taylor Shellfish on Capitol Hill is easily one of the best seafood spots in the Pacific Northwest. The food and beer are a solid 10/10, incredibly fresh, delicious, and consistently excellent.
The dining area is on the smaller side, but that’s part of the charm. The live shellfish tanks give the space a fun, authentic feel and make it clear just how fresh everything is.

My rating is based upon comparing the baked oysters among the Taylor Shellfish Oyster Bars in Seattle. The Pioneer Square sets the highest standard for replicating oysters prepared like the chargrilled oysters commonly served in New Orleans.
