I visited Umi Sake House on 1st Avenue—modern, cozy, and stylish with warm lighting and sleek decor. The place was moderately busy but not overcrowded. This place was crazy busy but still really fun. We sat at the bar because we didn’t have a reservation. Watching the bartender was quite entertaining. The happy hour sashimi was huge, thick, delicious, fresh. The rolls were amazing – 12 pieces per roll. Delicious sake.
Umi is definitely popular and busy, so I would make a reservation instead of counting on walking in. We actually arrived early and they were flexible enough to seat us, but they let us know upfront that we had about an hour and a half because another reservation was coming, which seems to be normal here.
