18 Best Coffee Shops in Tumwater

“Wife gives this place a 5.

But, they teased me about making up my own drink order. I wanted a black forest mocha. They said they didn't know what that was. I guess chocolate and cherry flavor that has been associated with that title has somehow traveled across the globe from Germany, but managed to elude contact with Tumwater, WA.

Anyway, they make good coffee, but don't know common (IMO) drinks and don't have any prices posted. I give them a 3 ?“

Issue — menu and barista provided unclear pricing expectations.

Menu lists 16 oz drinks for X price. Asked barista if 16 oz drink comes with 2 shots. Barista said 2 shots.

Got bill and it was around $1.50-$2.00 more than I expected.

Charged for extra shot.

Also charged for card use (under $10).

That’s fine, but it would be nice to have that clarity from the beginning. Here’s a suggestion to how the conversation could go:

Customer: “hi, does the 16 oz mocha come with 2 shots?”

Barista: “it comes with 1 shot, but I can add another shot for X (price)”

Customer: “okay, I’ll stick with 1 shot, thank you”

Barista: “that’ll be X total, cash or card?”

Customer: “card, please”

Barista: “great. Do note that for totals under $10 we charge a 40 cent processing fee”

Customer: “cool, thanks for the info!”

Again, coffee was good. And this extra information might even be on the menu (unsure, hard to see when it’s on a sign that’s behind where someone pulls up). This is a brief suggestion for how the whole customer experience is. And those little tidbits of info are super helpful, at least speaking for my experience.“

“We accidentally found these phenomenal waffles on our way to a softball tournament in Centralia. So phenomenal in fact that we drove out of our way 3 days in a row to come back for breakfast. We tried the Bourbon Maple w/ Bacon, the Dalmatian, The Local GOAT, Jalapeno Business and Banana's foster, all exceeded our expectations. Definitely give Abe's a try, you won't be sorry!“

“This is the only Starbucks I ever visit (which isn’t actually that often). Great staff and ambiance. Today the staff saved me as I promised my daughter a cake pop and I stalled long enough for Starbucks to close early due to weather conditions. They served me despite the fact that they were wrapping up for the night. Huge thanks! I also love that they renovated an old run down farmhouse and turned it into a modern coffee shop while keeping the original charm.“

“"Where everybody knows your name!" (and your order) 71 years in Texas when I pulled up deep roots and moved to the PNW. I made my first new friends at this Starbucks on Trosper. Devin was the first to remember my name and my order (Tall, triple shot latte with 4 raw sugar stirred in) and was authentically friendly. Soon I was conversing with Kayla, Brandon, Josh, Sahara, and Lou Ann. Some of the baristas have moved on at this posting and are greatly missed. I look forward to meeting the new baristas ... eventually. Just wanted to post my appreciation for this particular Starbucks' staff - no Seattle Freeze ( or whatever it's called) here. The Trosper Starbucks has a group of regulars who are delightful as well. Thanks to each of you for transitioning me from TX Starbucks to your humble outpost in the PNW. Y'all made me feel welcome in my new home. And P.S. there's NO Drive-thru! I love that! Such a big plus.“

“I live down the road and sometimes will stop here on my way back from taking my kids to school. I always get the cookies and cream frap, and my husband gets the same but with 5 extra shots....he's crazy, I know. Their coffee is amazing! I absolutely love it, their prices are so worth it and their reward system is super cool too!! 5 stars!“

I even captured a beautiful video of it brewing because I was so mesmerized. But this review goes out to Annika who went above and beyond and helped jump start my car battery in the parking lot. I’m so appreciative. “They are great but if you go inside you will find that drive through is definitely the priority. I thought I would save time going In because the drive through was around the building. I was treated rudely in the lobby. Always treated well in drive through.“

“This is our third time to this store. We like spending 2hr drinking coffee and playing in the shade. I always have my dogs and drink my coffee outside and I can really appreciate when I can go to Starbucks and function. The workers here are friendly the atmosphere is great my coffee tastes good and some of the friends neighbors that come through to get coffee was nice to meet them too. Thanks“

“My order was given to me by a rude, arrogant person who commanded me to never come to his window with a cigarette lit in my car. I understand that this is a family restaurant and what his concern involved. I extinguished my cigarette, got my order, and drove off feeling injured. He showed no tolerance for me! Some kindness may have brought me back to McDonalds with my grandson!“
