About Casa de los Chilaquiles

Casa de los Chilaquiles in University Place is SO good. Everything tasted fresh, flavorful, and actually homemade. The chilaquiles were the star of the show, but the whole meal was delicious. The portions were generous, the service was friendly, and the atmosphere was super welcoming. The Chilaquiles divorciado and the chocolate abuelita pancakes are sooooo amazing. The Michelada was also good. The enchiladas with rice and beans were delicious, covered with plenty of melted cheese and had a really good flavor. The rice and beans went perfectly with the meal. Two tacos were excellent, with meat that was tender, juicy, well seasoned, and tasted freshly prepared. The chilaquiles omelette plate with salsa verde had amazing flavors and textures. The corn waffle was perfection. The food is good, with big portions, and sharing would be a good idea. The price is fair for the amount of food. The staff was friendly, welcoming, and attentive. Servers were on top of things. The restaurant had a comfortable and casual atmosphere. This place is not made for big parties, and there can be a long wait. The service needs to improve and fast, with waits of almost 1 hour. But it is definitely worth coming back because the food is delicious.

Legit Mexican cuisine, delicious and authentic
Okay, picture this:

I came for breakfast. I left emotionally changed.

These chilaquiles are the gold standardβ€”the dish other chilaquiles should apologize to before existing. Perfectly crisp tortilla chips that somehow stay sturdy while soaking up the most flavorful, soul-warming salsa I’ve ever had. Not soggy. Not dry. Just chef’s kiss balance.

The sauce? Bold, rich, layeredβ€”clearly made by someone who understands that chilaquiles are not just food,...read full review
