“We walked in on a Sunday about 45 minutes before a Bucks game started. I am glad we didn't walk in an hour and a half before because I doubt there would have been space. It slowly emptied out as the game approached and started. What a lively crowd, super excited for their Bucks, who my son informed me were doing well. The food was amazing; you need to get the giant pretzel. The cheese curds were good. The fries were good. And our brats were definitely delicious! Highly recommend the Southsider.“
“Kegel's Inn is a 100 year old, local family owned business that serves authentic Austrian food. The Fish Fry is one of the best in town! Dine in to be transported to Bavaria and experience kind service.Vegetarian options: Even a Vegan fish fry!“
“For many years Von Trier has been the quintessential German bar in Milwaukee's east side. I used to live so close to it and now that I'm no longer in Wisconsin I miss it. Von Trier is, I should say, more German than many of the German bars I've visited while traveling in Germany. Tradition is important, and you can see that from wall to wall, ceiling to ceiling, you can see that in the decoration and the style. Von Trier has an impressive and large selection of beer, and I think for any fan of German beer, or just good beer in general, you'll definitely find something to stimulate your palate and placate your thirst. I visit Wisconsin once a year and I always come back here. Good memories and good beer. As it should be.“
“Fun and lively place to have a beer and watch soccer! Classic German beers are available as well as some rotating American/local ones. The food is also excellent. I’ve had their pretzel, corned beef with French fries, and sausage platter. All are delicious. They have live polka music on Friday evenings along with free drinks from a keg of beer they tap at 6pm (first come, first serve until the keg runs out). It’s street parking, which can be a pain depending on the time of day and what else is going on in the Deer District but I’ve always been able to find something.“
“While strolling through the downtown area seeing decorations we came upon the Old Third street shops. After browsing through Usingers and the Cheese Mart, we decided to nosh on something at Maders. The pretty holiday lights added an enchantment to the whole experience. We chose the Tiger shrimp Mac, liver dumpling soup and the grilled salmon salad. All were amazing and exceptional tasty. We topped it off with a warmed cup of Holiday Gluvein to add to the spirit which warmed us up nicely.“
“We stopped there at about 630 pm on a Friday for fish fry. They accept reservations but we didn't make one and they were able to actually get us in pretty quick. Service was fast and friendly and fish was delicious! I would definitely recommend!“
“This place has an old school German decor which is an experience in itself. The staff are friendly. I enjoyed the breaded pork (schnitzel) but was not a fan of the spatzle, it was very bland. It came with sauerkraut that was very tasty. The pretzel roll was amazing! I highly recommend, it is on the appetizer menu. Overall the rest of my party enjoyed their food, too.“
“Read about the fish fry in Milwaukee journal. Did not disappoint! Just the right amount of breading ( I had breaded cod..husband had potatoe breaded cod) soups were delicious and thankfully served hot!!!!!! Cute, quante restaurant...gave us the throw back, Wisconsin Friday fish fry vibe. Definitely will go back!“
“Best brats and tater tots!!! Been coming here for years with my hubby and family when they visit and it’s so great every time. The servers/bartenders are hard working and personable. Thank you guys for the great work, we appreciate you!!!“
“We’ve seen the Bierhaus many times on trips to Wisconsin. This was the time for our first visit. The Bavarian Bierhaus is part of a complex dedication to German traditions and culture. There are soccer fields, an outdoor village, and the bier hall and restaurant. The fired cheese curds were rich and delicious. And cubed, which I’ve never seen before. The sausage was tasty too. We tried the Oktoberfest brat & the Hungarian. Nice, spicy mustard. Recommend the Marzen too named Unkel Dunkel. Again, all solid, traditional recipes. We will be back with family & friends. Recommended.“
