Fish fry was great. Prime rib sandwhich was excellent. Service was very nice. Came back the next day for some awesome crab cakes at the bar. Great service again.
The service was excellent as was the view of the lake. Unfortunately, the food was not very good. I ordered the cherry salad and the salmon. The salad had so much dressing on it that I couldn’t taste the ingredients. I only tasted balsamic vinaigrette. The salmon was cooked well, but was over salted. Oak & Oar offers a dining experience with incredible views and a warm, inviting atmosphere. The decor is very nice, and the staff is friendly and attentive. Service is generally great, with accurate and timely orders, though it can be a bit slow when busy.
The food receives mixed feedback. Many dishes are praised, including the Rainbow trout, which was fantastic, and the sides. The crab cakes were good, and the turkey club was also good. The flat iron steak and the Weinershnitzel were amazing. The pretzel with beer cheese is highly recommended, and the beef strogaloff was delicious. Steak and fries were good. Drinks tasted amazing, and food was hot and prompt. Prices are very reasonable.
However, some dishes fell short. The walleye needed salt, while the pan-fried trout had too much salt. The smash burger wasn’t smashed, and ribs were average. Tartar sauce tasted like mayonnaise, and cole slaw was forgettable. A few healthy options would be appreciated. The cheese board looked very nice and was loaded, enough for four people. Homemade potato chips with sour cream dip were a complimentary treat.
